I know alot of you guys wear these. I want to order some online but read somewhere that the sizes run small. Any comments? I wear a 10 1/2 normally but will order a size bigger if I have to. I ran into the same problem buying some Fieldsheer gear and don't want to have to return it.

I found they run just a pinch small.... I wear 9 1/2, and the Euro size 44 fits pretty damn well...

+1. my 10.5 D are just fine in a 44. i might bump it up one size to accommodate thicker socks for winter.

Unlike some of the Japanese brands where they tend to be very narrow, the Italian Oxtars are more generous in width, so you don't need to go up as much in size as you do with a Japanese boot.

They also stretch quite a bit as they break in, so don't be discouraged if they feel a bit tight the first time you try them on. After wearing them for a full day, they should be broken in nicely.

I have walked through low water crossings up to 6-8 inches in mine several times, and they never leaked a drop. They also are quite comfortable to wear all day long and walk/hike in.

I wear a size 9, and my size 43 Oxtar's fit me very well. They are snug enough though, that I can't wear really thick socks.

+1. I just wore mine for 11 days straight - absolutely comfortable the entire trip.

Now that's interesting. I wear a size 10, and my size 43 Oxtars were a bit loose if anything. No problem with thick socks. They have broken in well and are mucho comfy.

Also interesing, is that at the following link at NewEnough.com, they now give standard U.S. sizing, and, they say the Matrix is going to be discontinued and a new Matrix 2 introduced shortly. Hmmmm.......hope the Matrix 2 is as good as the original.

Where are you looking to purchase yours from?

Edit: A little more research and I found this link which shows the size 43 to match U.S. size 10. So all those freaks above me must have some funky feet.

Oxtar Matrix sizing

Perhaps the difference is in our widths/over all thickness of the feet?

I'm somewhere between a 9 and 9.5 US on most shoes and boots. I ended up trying on several different Matrix boots and ended up with 45s to allow for some flexibility on sock choice. I also like to add a gel insole to my boots so a little extra room helps.

Just FYI...The pair I tried out fit true to advertised and were wide enough for my very wide feet 11E. Unfortunately, due to large calves I could not zip or velcro the boot, so that is something to consider for those of us who are "husky".

Another data point: I usually wear a size 11 shoe. My Oxtar Matrix boots are size 45. When the boots were new I thought they were too small- almost returned for a 46. But I didn't and either I got use to them or they got use to me. I wear a thin wool sock and am quite comfortable all day long in them.

I too did the water submersion test. Stood in a brook 6 + inches deep. Not a drop leaked in.

Caution when new: You may have trouble shifting until boot loosens up. Maybe not a problem with the scooter model.

Wow, that E-Bay price is a great price but nothing in my size. I was going to buy them from New Enough but it looks like they are limited on size also. It seems like most everybody is beginning to phase them out so some deals might be had for those with bound feet or for NBA basketball players. It seems like the general consensus is to order big. Anybody else have a source?

This business used to be in the next town to me and I have bought a lot of stuff from them. Don't know how their prices are in their new 'store' but he has always had everything in every size.

The owner is an avid biker so he moved from Plaistow, NH down to Stanardsville, VA because the riding season is longer and the rides are better.

Thanks for that Ion. I just checked out their website and his prices are right in line. I like the fact that he enjoys riding also. He's offering some nice discounts based on the amount that you purchase and even a free T-shirt with orders over $300.00! Now how can anyone pass up a deal like that? I'm going to call him tomorrow and see if he has a pair of size 11 in stock. Of course I'll have to add a few odds and ends to get that free shirt....I'm going to make him aware of the forum, maybe we can get him online with some discounts.

I hope you can work out a deal with M.E., he's been a Boy Scout to deal with.

The man rides a BMW. When he looked out his store window into the parking lot where I had my FJR parked all he saw was an empty parking lot. Now, we could talk rides, farkles, equipment, etc, but he should have a BMW tattoo on his forehead ;)

Ohhhhhhhh, one of them. Then I won't drop trou and show him my tuning fork....

It has been my experience that the Oxtar Matrix boots do run a little small in size....they may have adjusted their sizing approach lately but I can't confirm that. I do know that I love the boots so much I have two new pairs in the closet. I believe in having "back-ups" when you find a product as good as these are.

Great Price as they're not Gor-tex...not waterproof.
PTP
Good catch. I didn't even realize there was a Gortex and non-Gortex version. WTF is up with that?

Yep. I am in search of a good deal for a 2nd pair, just in case the *new and improved* version ain't so improved.
