They had one at the Speedway in Daytona during Bike Week. I really wanted one before I saw it in person and sat on it. It didn't seem very well sorted out to me. I'm sure the power is awesome, but you've got to have more than that to make it on the long haul.

Thus, about a month later I bought my FJR. No regrets.

Given that the published specs (at least as we know them so far) give it only about 9 horsepower and 10 foot-pounds more than the FJR, it isn't going to be a class-killer from what I can see.

But it LOOKs like a very aggressive FJR.

I'm sure it's quite capable but it looks a little clunky to me. The bags seem an after thought and the rear gear bulbous. Looks pretty mean from the front but side and rear view doesn't work for me.

I don't like the looks. It looks like the FJR's fat cousin from the country. Rear suspension is overly complex, unless maybe it provides some sort of benefit in handling. Looks like it uses 2 u-joints in the drive shaft so probably doesn't have the 2500 RPM grumble the FJR has. I don't like the ridges in the bags and tank and front fender. Is there a purpose for them? I doubt it. The rear bags look bigger than the FJR, then again the rear bags look big. What are those two appendages on the front, mirrors, or are they speed brakes? I don't like non-symetrical exhaust systems.

Maybe it looks different in person. I'll bet it is a nice driving bike that leans more toward touring than sport. Just guessing. Any ride reports out there?

Wow, aesthetically speaking, that thing’s taking some hits. Just to preserve my credibility, not that I really ever had any, as an aficionado of beautiful bikes I’m going to wear a tinted face shield on my helmet :no: when they “force me” to test ride one of those things. Oh yeah, and I ain’t about to let be known :sarcasm: that, “I would take one of those things for a spin”. :bike:

Thanks much for posting. I've been following this bike as it is being offered without linked brakes which I'm not sure that I want. I agree that it doesn't look, from the photos as least, to be as attactive/well thought out as the FJR. It will be interesting to see all the specifications, and the service requirments as well. I guess I feel that the more competition there is in the Sport-Touring Market the more we all benefit.

They certainly don't appear very functional as mirrors, so they must be speed brakes. I'll keep my plain-looking and highly functional FZ-1 mirrors, at least for the foreseeable future.
