I was thinking (uh oh) that the UP would be a great place for a RTE. Rapid River or Manistique perhaps. I've only ridden through that area once coming back from Tech Day III and I'd love to get up there again. I thought it might be a good location because I know there's a ton of us Feejer pilots in the northern neck of the woods. Besides the roads from here through Wisc. out to there are pretty nice.

Maybe someone familiar with the area knows the perfect place for this to happen. My initial thoughts would be mid to late August. Still plenty of daylight hrs, albeit it might be a tad warm, but heck, we'd be riding North where air conditioners aren't needed, right? ;)

Post up and let everyone else know if there's any interest.

I have vacation the week before Labor Day. If it happens then, I may be in. Was planning to ride all that week, but don't have any set plans yet.

I might could do that on the way to/from Denver this yr. I grew up in the LP so use most any excuse to go there.

What dates were you looking at?

Well that Saturday before Labor Day weekend sounds as good as any other.

So Aug. 25th? Would be a great way to kick-off a week of riding TCMike.

So any "other" ideas (not sure about Gay Bar n Grill) on where specifically? Or should I just look for a few places, post them and let ya'll choose? I'm not picky, but I will be hungry (still not sure about G B n Grill).

When is the IBA get together in Denver? Early Aug.? I hope the 25th wouldn't be too late. Would be great to meet you up there.

Aug 15-19; I'll be leaving morning of the 19th for home or ? Depends on my kitchen pass expiration which is a fluid date...

I may be in Michigan next weekend - I go to the Napoleon-Michigan Center area SE Jackson county.

I have my girls the weekend of the 25, 26th, but can head out Monday morning the 27th through Labor Day.

Was through Manistique last summer in late July. Amazing and beautiful place with daylight until 10:30 PM. Wish I could join you. These pictures were after 10:00 PM

Great looking pics Tom, thanks. That's how I remember the area when I rode through last Fall.

OK, so if it's going to be Manistique, there's 7 restaurants in town. The one I'm leaning towards is Floyd's Family Restaurant. Big Boys got rave reviews as well, but that seemed too franchisee. There's another joint further North that looks intrigueing called the Bear Trap in Shingleton, but that'll add prolly another 50 miles. Manistique is about 88 mi.s West of the Mackinac Bridge, and that bridge is a hoot to ride over on a windy day if you've never done it before.

That place must be on the western edge of the eastern time zone? If you put a route together with some cool roads post it up! I'd like to check it out, never been to MI.

Matt, I haven't figured out any specific route from here yet. But for me the shortest route is still all 2-lane roads. I am thinking I'll want to be sure to get up there on time, and depending on how lunch goes, maybe take a more scenic route back. When I get it all figured out, I'll try to send you my GPX.

And yes, the date is the 25th of Aug.

Some of the best roads in the Mid-west are in the UP, but not near Manistique  My suggestion is Copper Harbor it's closer and the really good roads are right in that area. Up and back in a day means you'll need to skip riding and exploring the good spots it's close to 8 hours one way. Look close at Hwys 26 and 41 to and from Copper Harbor and Lac LaBelle Rd. through Bete Grise and down to Gay then over to Houghton. The Gay Bar the Bug refers to is named for it's location, Gay MI not it patrons, you guys will be safe there :p There's lots more if you guys want to head that way I can give you more to explore and places to eat and drink.

Here's a link to the way I go to get there and the 26/41/ Lac La Belle Rd. https://goo.gl/maps/NBqf
