    Broken End of AVCC

Once you have your cable legnth set properly use Loctite 290 on the allen head set screw. It will follow the threads in and prevent it from backing out. It is also the easiest Loctite product when you need to disassemble the fastener.

    KrZy8 down n out?

A coolant leak into the combustion chamber would give a "sweet" smell out of the exhaust while running. Napa has a Combustion Leak Tester (Part #BK. 700-1006) which uses a chemical that changes color from blue to yellow if there is exhaust gas in the cooling system. You need to run the engine...

    ABS Warning Light

There is a recall on the 2011 front brake light switch. Is it possible if you have a late 2010 that might have the same switch? Try unplugging your front brake light switch and see if the brake lights go out. If they do not, unplug the rear switch and see if the brake lights go out. That is a...

    Gas in Oil-- How?

Use the Techron, it is a great product, I have seen it work cleaning dirty injectors in automotive applications. I use it about once a month as preventative maintenance in all my vehicles including the FJR. The Seafoam has a fair amout of alcohol in it, pump gasoline has more then enough alcohol...

Gen II Rear Wheel ABS Rotoe/ Wheel Bolts

I looked in the online parts on the Yamaha corporate site and could not find the rear wheel sensor rotor or the bolts. However the 2009 FSM does say to replace the bolts with new ones if they are removed and to reinstall using Loctite. When you receive your extra wheel determine the diameter and...

    Anti-Lock Brakes

The ABS system is very good, on my 2009 A there is no noticable pulsation in the brakes. When I first bought my bike I had planned on taking it into a parking lot and testing the ABS after getting used to the handling of the bike. However with less then 200 miles on the clock, a car did a left...

    Engine ID Number

Just checked the "raised pad" on the rear of the engine block and mine is blank also. I purchased the bike new with 5 miles on it (I put 3 miles on during a test ride) so to the best of my knowledge this is the original engine, as you said the PIN does have only 6 digits at the end. Does the...

    Engine ID Number

+1 I have a 2009 and the engine ID number is also on the right hand side just above and inboard of the rear motor mount.

2 color schemes it seems for 2009 AE's

Networkguy have you pm'ed the other owners of the brown hued bikes and compared vins? If the vins are close numerically you can "prove" that Yamaha had a mis-mixed batch of paint. Not that this will really make a difference in the scheme of things but it will give you piece of mind that the bike...

    Shopping for frame sliders

I bought & installed the OES sliders for my 09 fit and finish was excellent. Plus individual replacement parts are available at reasonable prices. Customer service was excellent.

    headlight realsy as trigger

I personally do not like a tap that cuts the insulation of the wire and does not seal the connection from water. Down the road when water gets into the wires and the wires start to corrode you start having intermittant electrical problems.

    How stable is Sta-bil?

+1 on previous post. Toss it, there is a two year shelf life and even a spot on the back label to write in the date it was opened. Are you using E-10 fuels in South Korea? If you are look into StarTron fuel treatment it was formulated with ethanol cut fuels in mind. Of course I'm not sure if it...

    Winter storage

Gasoline with ethanol added does breakdown in storage. This has been a problem with marine fuels which had the ethanol about one year before "road" gasoline, if the marina was buying marine grade fuels. My brother has a boat and started using a product called Startron(www.startron.com) and has...

    Chain's still "jumping", now what?

+1 with mcatrophy. The fuel injection on newer vehicles is set very lean, to the point of a lean misfire even when the vehicle is on "cold start". By running leaner it warms up the engine quicker, so the ECM can get into closed loop operation as fast as possible, which keeps the EPA happy. My...
