    Forkoil leaking from compression adjustment

I've been following this thread, but just catching up now on recent posts. Can anyone confirm that the compression adjustment mechanism is different on the Gen 1 Vs Gen 2 forks ? This looks the same as my Gen 1 from the diagram above. I know about most of the differences between the two types of...

    wandering front end

+1 for getting the front wheel bearings check when the new PR3 goes on. Mine went on a new bike at 22,000 kms & I had to ride it home on 50 miles of twisting country road to the nearest dealer. Not pleasant !

Gen 1 FJR1300 and what have you replaced on your bike

2001 Aussie model owned for 11 years, now approaching 60,000 kms. New front wheel bearings at 22,000 kms due to failure. Have added stainless steel (HEL) brake & clutch lines, Scotts SS oil filter, K & N Air Filter, Iridium plugs. Just changed out rear brake pads, front still 50% wear. When I...

    Epic F**K up, Now what?

Gazza, read the whole story. The thread started in 2012, & the wrench was removed a while back. Your advice about patience is spot on though.

Why you should check your tires EVERY time you ride

Having experienced a rear tire rapid deflation whilst riding, I totally agree with wheatonFJR - you're checking them to make sure that the pressures are in the ball park of where they were on the last ride, & if they have changed, alarm bells should be sounding ! In a nutshell, we all have two...

    Epic F**K up, Now what?

Must have missed this thread when originally posted, so just caught up with it now. Great story & outcome. Piss funny when the Dutch guy enteres the fray AFTER the half wrench is already out. I need to visit more often !!

    Oil change

I don't have to worry about Winter storage like some of you guys do, so I change oil & filter every year, which for me if between 6-8,000 km (around 5,000 miles). If I lived in CT & stored the bike thru Winter, personally I'd change the oil BEFORE storage - used oil has some acid in it that can...

    Knee Replacement and FJR

Hi Techjunkie, I haven't had a knee replacement, but I broke my right hip which led to 3 operations on it, the last of which was a full hip replacement. This was actually easier to recovery from than the earlier 2 !! I set myself about 12 weeks off the bike, so I had it connected to battery...

    FJR admirer in country OZ

Nice looking bird, Rob. It looks bigger than a Rosella - what type is it ?

    pillion hip-replacement

@ Palerider. I've had 3 hip ops in the past 3.5 years. Fell off a ladder & broke my right elbow & hip. Fixed it & riding again in 12 weeks. A year later, had the metalwork out - riding again in 8 weeks. 6 months later, necafemur died so had bone on bone - full hip replacement at 50 years old...

    Installing new battery.

@ Steel, I have a 2001 Australian spec FJR and have just changed the battery after ......... 8 years !! I don't ride every day but have used a battery tender intermittently to charge the battery. After talking to the local Yuasa distributor, I have upgraded my tender to a CTEK 4003 which...

Purchased 2010 FJR over KGT- Yessssss it feels good!

Well done Easy E. I've had my black 2001 Australian spec model for over 8 years now and still love every ride on her. I'm 6'4" tall, & did get a test ride on a enlightened dealers test mule as I wouldn't have bought one without seeing what the experience & ergonomics were like. Back in 2001...

    Average age of FJR owners

52 here too, but had my FJR since I was 44 so I made a mature decision then ! Being 6'4" tall means I needed a sporty bike, but too tall for sports bike (even the Kawasaki ZX-12R which is the closest thing I've seen to a chain driven FJR without luggage). I've been riding road bikes continually...

    Fork seals! Argh!

It looks thin enough & flexible. For $5 it's got to be worth a go.

    Gen 1 Valve Cover Removal

I've read this thread with interest as I'm due to do my Gen 1 soon. Only good thing is that it doesn't need doing very often ! It does sound like a PITA, but at least I'll know that i was done properly. I'll be checking for leaks before putting it all back together, as that sounds like one of...
