I will NEVER buy a new FJR again

THIS, is why I will likely have my '13 cremated with me... I've put $18-20k into her and have very low milage (it's an age thing)... I hate to even think about selling her.....

Close Encounters of the Wrong Kind

Congratulations on surviving a close encounter of the worst kind.... Reading all the posts I have a couple of observations... 1. 25 years plus of driving Lori's (big rigs) and taking the Smith system 3 time has made survival on my FJR 'more' likely.. You do develop a sixth sense as to what other...

OK, it's time to say "Goodbye".

Sad to see you closing the doors to Bike Effects.. You provided me with virtually all the improvements necessary to tame my '06... PCIII, etc.. I also appreciated being able to talk to you on the phone and gain an education on the problems and solutions to same..I also got to meet you a time or...

Rider over cooks the front brakes, and has a near death crash.

Semi was "bobtail". Braking when bobtailing is almost ineffectual, to say the least. Swerving was more effective. BTDT.

A Quickie... Mental Health Day that is... ;)

Tyler, we have never met. But I know you a little from you posts here. My thought and prayers are with you and I hope the rest of the year goes much better for you. I lost the love of my life 16 months ago after a long, painful 3 year struggle. They say it gets better. Your posts help. I made...

    Cautionary Tales about Seth Laam!

Yes, barriers to the "seat" business are not great. However, the apprentice time is not inconsequential.. Seth is choosing to stay small, keep his prices down while making a good return for his efforts.. 3 years ago, I rode in and discussed his business model with him. I (a retired CPA that...

Upgrading suspension instead of replacing bike

While my 2013 Gen III is not old, I did upgrade the suspension with the KFG group buy. I was unable to get to KFG until recently, this week. All I can say is I no longer am envious of the 2014-15 Gen III ES! What an improvement!

    Split: Radar Detector Stuff

I know I shouldn't comment, but I can't resist.. Having driven commercially for 25 years in NorCal and going through the "Smith System" a few times I have my own ideas on this subject. Drivers, most ot them, in the U.S. are woefully deficient in their ability to sefely drive. Period.. Failure...

Ok, do you "fast shift" or "slow shift"?

Seriously, shifting 'technique' IS important from 1st to 2nd, especially. Just read some of the posts of those whose transmission had to be fixed... No small job, costing big $$$ if one runs afoul of the 'shifting gods'.. Me, I haven't figured it out exactly, but I go easy on first, preferring...

    Valentine radar detector opinions?

As a 'ham' operator, I used to listen to the extender frequency used by the CHP. It was the same, statewide. The beauty of that, was it was also the frequency the 'airplane' used to communicate with his ground minions.. I always got at least a 2-5 mile advance warning when approaching an...

    Ruger LC9s

While doing a little research on ammunition for my Kimber just now, I ran into several comments (Cabela's, Midway) stating the LC9 would not load hollow point ammo reliably. Don't have one personally, so it is just hearsay. Something to consider, though.

GP Suspension 9th Annual FJR Forum Group Buy

Big Chunk, I did the same thing... I figure once in a lifetime one can 'pamper' themselves. I went for the whole thing! I'm telling myself, "It's a safety thing!" I ride more cautiously, now as I approach 70, but this is something I've thought about for years. I only put 5,000 miles on my '13...
