Here's my soon to be previous '05 just before heading out for Cape Breton Nova Scotia this June. Unfortunately we had wet weather most of the week and only camped twice. I've been camping most of my 60 years, but the rain was just too much.

I used a Covermax cover for 2 summers before I built a 10x12 building for the bike. Make sure to remove it after it rains hard to let it dry out. I had inside storage for winter months.
The Rambone is an excellent option for the GPS. Everybody that sees mine wants to know where to get it. Plus it's available from a forum member and the install is a 5 minute job if you take your time. It put the GPS dead center in front of my tank bag.
I agree on using the bag liners, otherwise the side loading cases are a pain. I use the right side one every commuting day and stuff shoes, netbook, lunch and anything else I'd put in a briefcase. I used it on a 2500 mile trip last year and when my riding partner was hauling his side cases into...
I too have a set and when you are slabbing along not only can you stretch your legs, it puts them out in the breeze away from the heat of the engine. They are by far one of the best farkles I added for long rides.

They are bolt on simple. I think it took me about ten minutes.
