Who has gone camping on an FJR?

Here's my soon to be previous '05 just before heading out for Cape Breton Nova Scotia this June. Unfortunately we had wet weather most of the week and only camped twice. I've been camping most of my 60 years, but the rain was just too much. Unlike Khunajawdge, we often ride in the rain!

    Utility of heated seat

Having spent the week before last riding 2300 miles to Cape Breton Nova Scotia and back in the cold and rain the only this I was dying for was heated grips. Temps ranged from 40's to 60's but even with Vstrom hand guards and First Gear "waterproof" gloves my hands were the only thing that...

    Trailer Hitch Help!

He's looking for a hitch for the FJR. Trekker makes motorcycle towable trailers.

    Confused

Look for the ABS warning light when you turn on the ignition. No warning light, no ABS.

If you store your FJR outside how do you protect it?

I used a Covermax cover for 2 summers before I built a 10x12 building for the bike. Make sure to remove it after it rains hard to let it dry out. I had inside storage for winter months.

    Heated power cord placement ?

The Rambone is an excellent option for the GPS. Everybody that sees mine wants to know where to get it. Plus it's available from a forum member and the install is a 5 minute job if you take your time. It put the GPS dead center in front of my tank bag.

Has anyone ever upgraded their bags?

I agree on using the bag liners, otherwise the side loading cases are a pain. I use the right side one every commuting day and stuff shoes, netbook, lunch and anything else I'd put in a briefcase. I used it on a 2500 mile trip last year and when my riding partner was hauling his side cases into...

Old Wild Bill's highway mounting plates and pegs

I too have a set and when you are slabbing along not only can you stretch your legs, it puts them out in the breeze away from the heat of the engine. They are by far one of the best farkles I added for long rides. Networkguy, They are bolt on simple. I think it took me about ten minutes.

    Looking for Video Camcorder

Just noted on their website that due to the production interupptions in Japan they are not currently shipping product. You might still find some in stock elsewhere. :(

    Windshield film

Mine did the same after sitting under a wet cover for several days.

    Center stand lifting tricks

It also helps to take the bags off. The extra weight and being able to stand a little closer makes a difference for me along with using the 2x6.

    GPS location: Pros & Cons

I've got mine on a RamBone which mounts to the tank bolts. It sits dead center and just in front and above the tank bag. It's easy to glance from the map in the clear pocket of the tank bag to the GPS. WynPro Rambone in Group/Self Buys

    Helmets with integral sun visors

I picked up a Zox Genesis SVS when they came out a few years ago and have been extremely happy with it. Others on this forum have had some negative comments about it but my experience has been good. I commute 25 miles on twisty secondary roads with miles of tree lined lanes and open fields. In...

    Bike Stinks

It may not be "bad" gas but it could be the brand. I had a Saab Turbo that would stink :gah: on one particular brand whenever I'd use it. Learned to avoid it.
