As of today NTSB has upgraded this to an engineering analysis. They have found enough info from Yamaha to think there is a problem and taken it to the next step in the process to a potential recall.
I did the slave cyl swap and it did indeed reduce lever effort, but increased throw. I have to run the adjustment all the way out to get enough lever motion to fully dis-engage the clutch. If you have short fingers this is a problem. I will have to try the washer trick. I have also been thinking...
"Wouldn't make it these days" I beg to differ sir. I have two 83 Supersports, one stock one in red and a highly modified one in blue. I have roasted many a modern crotch rocket with them. I had bright red Italian machinery for lunch just yesterday up near Suches. You can almost hear them scream...

I saw a blue FJR with Florida tags getting hauled out of Suches this moring with a caved front end. Word was the rider went to the hospital with some cuts and bruises after loosing an argument with the side of Blood Mountain.
I've been to Reno several times. The planes never fly over or in the direction of the crowd. Anyone that breaks the deadline is DQed. There were 3 crashes in 2007 and all fell inside the pylons.
