    General Dislikes

I love my AE for it's auto clutch/paddle shifter since I have arthritus bad in both hands. But after a BMW RT1150, it is top heavy. First tip-over just last month in my garage after repositioning the bike & the kick stand moved. The biggest fault is my front brake pads clunk over bumps, my...

    Trooper mod revisited

Man, you guys !!?? Oh yea, it was Zombie Friday. Igniters, when I was mid-teens 50 years ago we just screwed a spark plug into the exhaust pipe past the muffler & wired it to a hot source switch. But once coasting down the LONG hill into Allegan, MI. in my dad's stick shift 6-cyl. '61 Chevy...

    Trooper mod revisited

Gary-yes & yes. Stage 1 = 1/2 Trooper. Don't think I saw stage 1 in any posts, but then I didn't read all 400+ posts. Skooter - yes, I have OCD, am anal-retentive, and being a retired engineer sure contributes to the pi. I didn't look at what side (in or out) the baffle weld is, but if you do...

    Trooper mod revisited

After reading numerous pros & a few cons (1 pipe-to-baffle weld eliminated) of this easy farkle, I decided to do it a bit differently. Assuming a 1.5" dia hole saw using a 1/16"-.06" thick blade, I calculated the area of the cut-out circle (A = pi x D/2 squared). The dif ='s approx 0.3 sq...

Looking at a used 08, got a question about brakes

I changed my rear pads after 500 miles on my '08 to organics. Several other forum posters had suggeted that, and it worked. Not the greatest braking, but better than stock!!

    AE YCCS Shift

I don't normally hard throttle shift my '08 AE, me being an old geezer. I have not adjusted anything, and except for 1st to 2nd, my AE is always buttery smooth up & down. I do NOT flick the throttle! Doing so makes for very rough shifts. I read all your advices above and retried flicking...

    battery replacement

A slightly dif battery topic, but why did my speedo & tach do their needle sweep to & fro without the battery being connected ?? I don't recall which cable I took off, (the one in front ((positive?)), but it was in my hand and all sorts of wierd things happened. Maybe I was grounded to the...

    Windsheild question

Read the New Rifle thread 4 below this one. I love my Rifle. It is BIG, but it works !! I got the +3" tall, +4" wide per both the Rifle & CE Bailey sizing spec sheets. Had a CEB shield on my '04 BMW RT and didn't like it, too much noise and light reflections.

    AE foot shifter removal ?

Sorry IObeam, look at the top pic. Our shfiter mounting is behind the footpeg plate, and the hardest bolt to remove is the one behind the toe shifter holes, which don't align with the bolt head.

    AE foot shifter removal ?

I wasn't very clear on my request. I got the shifter/rubber part off just like you stated (great pic1), but I did that along time ago. I want to remove the metal angled shifter lever that has the 3 shifter adjustments holes in it between your 2 spanners, the part that disappears into the footpeg...

    AE foot shifter removal ?

Has anyone taken off the shifter pedal? If so, how did you get the screw that is behind the rubber pad out?

    Steering head bolt size

I tried like hell NOT to remove the top triple tree, even using a small bolt cutter get get rid if the wire holder. While I got it cut off, the cut was very sharp which bothered me. Best to remove the tree!! 36mm 6 point from Sears.

Shifting problem with AE - need help!

My AE clutch disengages around 1500 rpm, so there is NO reason not to downshift into the proper gear before a stop, before the wheels stop turning which assists in the downshift.

    Quick fasteners

Go to your local Ace Hardware or ??, much cheaper !! Some buy 100 or more (bulk) at 1 time on-line for a good price.
