    Spark plug cap & wire

extrememarine....you were absolutely correct. I guess I didn't look hard enough. A flashlight and magnifying glass let me see that the brass post was indeed threaded. Cut about 5/16" of wire off and spun the cap right on. Back in business. Thanks for the help. ridernotbiker...thanks to you...

    Spark plug cap & wire

So I took advantage of the rain and replaced the plugs on my '07. All was well until my fingers slipped while trying to twist & pull the plug cap off of #4 and I pulled the wire out of the cap. I don't see a real mechanical connection, so I just pushed the wire back into the cap. Bike starts...

    Raise 'em right!!!

Leaving first thing in the morning with my 11 yr old daughter for our yearly ride. She absolutely LOVES daddy's FJ!! Last year was her first long ride so we took it pretty easy (1200 miles over three days!!). Went through the smokies, down the tail of the dragon, and back up the blue ridge...

    steering head sockets

Excellent work. And it's good to know that there are still good people willing to help others. I'd be glad to have one in my collection of toys. Thanks for the offer. PM sent.

    Bar Weights...which to get

Looking to add heavier bar ends to the FJ. Wanted to find out what everyone else is getting? Thanks, Cheapskate

    New grips....

Thanks all....looks like the puppies have it.

    New grips....

What aftermarket grips are you putting on your bikes? I'm looking for a little larger diameter than the stock, and was considering maybe a gel type to try to help with the 4K buzz? I'm not running heated grips.

    Shinko's anyone???

So I was at the end of day 2 of a 4 day ride in the smokies, just propped the bike up one the center stand and was checking her out when I noticed I had ridden the rear tire down to the cords...literally. I had a brand new tire at the local bike shop waiting for my return, because they could...

    Latest Farkles

Howdy all....With the wife's permission (after months of begging), I just added a few goodies to the bike. A CeeBaileys +6 tall +4 wide, Heli-bars, G2 throttle tube, and a Zumo 660 GPS. All of these are on recommendations by fellow riders of this forum. After the first 11,000 miles I decided...

    What's your RPM range?

Just wondering how hard everyone else is rev'ing their FJ's? I know I baby mine too much, but I find that when I'm cruising I always feel the need to shift when I get to about 3500. I'll crack her wide open every now and again just to keep the cobwebs out and to have a little fun. Maybe I've...

    gayest bike!!

ARRRRGH!!!....So, I go to give the FJ one of her bi-annual cleanings. I hose it off good, and give it a quick wash and rinse...now dinner is ready. I go in and eat, come back out and find that the bike is covered in water spots so bad it looks diseased, and since I'm most likely going to do...

    Cold Clutch

Amen, Shuswaper. I had exactly the same experience....and the same results. Not even close to the same bike now. Mine did it from day 1 and just got a little worse each time I rode until it started dying going into 1st....especially in the morining. Took the clutches apart and found a sticky...

    engine dies

I'm with you SockMonkey, the infrequency pretty much makes it pointless to take to the dealership (especially mine), as I'm sure that it won't reporoduce itself. I was just wondering if anyone else had experienced it too. If you wouldn't mind, I'd be very interested in hearing how you like the...

    engine dies

This is where I was leaning when I posted the question. I have also noticed the surge you're talking about. Just out of curiosity though, what are you going to use to dial in your bike? Is there a map that you are looking at or are going to use a CO monitor and custom map? Thanks for the...

    engine dies

thanks to all for the replies. i'll get to checking the warm idle.

    engine dies

Anyone experiencing this?.....Bike starts fine, idles ok, first time I pull back on the throttle it just dies. The bike starts right back up and never dies again. I've only noticed it after the bike has been run and then sits for awhile (i.e. after stopping to eat). The thing that bothers me...

    Audiovox Cruise Control-Problem Solved?

I have also made the changes to my AVCC. I shortened up my blue wire and attached it to the ECU as I agree with RFulcher that this is just a good practice. For anyone worried about doing this, there is no magic in that suppressor. It is just a 20,000 ohm resistor. Mine actually had one of...

The Million Mile Challenge. Who's In?

860 miles in 18 hours!!!!! :clapping: What a bike. Took an overnighter down to the Dragon's Tail and back.....all backroads. The only problem, I've got to get my Audiovox cruise working. My throttle hand went numb several times. I had to ride the tail while it was wet, but it was still...

Audiovox CCS100 Poll - The First!! (but not final!!)

I've got an '07 with a self installed ccs-100. First trip out I noticed it dropped out a couple of times (after about 35 to 50 miles each time). I installed a relay in the braking circuit for the cruise control. When the cruise is active I have the brake sensing wire tied directly to ground...
