3D Analysis Stock vs Sargent World Sport Seat

I plan on doing some 'other stuff' at some point so I did a few quick and dirty low res scans of the body. This will help me make some brackets and other attachments (dash etc) after I do the seat. Maybe I'll do a 'for real' scan at a later date. I think I have what I need with this one... I...

3D Analysis Stock vs Sargent World Sport Seat

I thought some might be interested in seeing the differences in geometry between the stock seat and the Sargent World Sport. The Sargent is a definite improvement over the stock seat in terms of support and comfort. As someone whose had a few back surgeries, comfort is paramount. Not quite ready...

3rd Gen ES Suspension Problems Poll

Interesting idea changing the preload at a stoplight. Call me a purist but I never change preload unless I am doing what the pretty pictures on the LCD depict (loaded bags, wife etc) No problems with my ES setup either. It really isn't all that complicated with steppers etc from a...

My Impressions of the MV Motorrad Bar Riser

Still real happy with the plate...the only negative for me so far is that fact that I can't see behind me via mirrors unless I pull a hand off the grips....I may have to make some kind of riser for them or something.

My Impressions of the MV Motorrad Bar Riser

My plate came with MV logo tape holding the nuts to the bottom of the plate already...so I guess they must have caught on and just did it for us from the factory. I just got my Sargent seat...it's been way too windy to ride the last 2 days (figures, right?) But even in the upper position the...

My Impressions of the MV Motorrad Bar Riser

Yeah...I did that to the hex/Allen head cap screws. The regular bolts felt pretty tight (like I didn't want to go any further in aluminum) at 55 Ft Lbs.

My Impressions of the MV Motorrad Bar Riser

Just an update: I made some adjustments to the plate and bars since the initial install. Unlike the stock mounting arrangement, it IS possible to have one bar closer to you than the other. This can be a result of the plate being slightly clocked one way or the other or from the bars not being...

    The FJR Bird Strike Poll

Do bumble bees count? I hit a Starling at like 45 not too far back...hit the top of the shield and then my helmet. Powder & dust everywhere...thankfully no blood.

What did you do to your FJR today?

Put the MV Motard plate on the bars...So far so good! Wrists feel much better! Makes front wheel come up on a hard 1-2 shift that didn't happen before...but nothing all that unexpected.

My Impressions of the MV Motorrad Bar Riser

Just a 'Thank You!' for taking the time and effort to share your tips. I found them useful while doing mine today on my '14 ES. After getting everything torqued down to spec, I took it for a spin around the block. I didn't want to come home! First thing I noticed was it took me 3 attempts to...

    Wrecks comes in threes?

JUST pay attention... It's unfortunate that you did this to yourself. This is why I don't ride with music, the phone, zero alcohol etc and pay attention to my surroundings at all times. If you get caught sleeping on the bike it could be game over. Glad you are OK too...hopefully lesson...

My Impressions of the MV Motorrad Bar Riser

They ship all kinds of drawings of the plate - so if you're good with CAD, you can machine your own I guess... There are 5 DS pages of TUV certification. A bunch of drawing pages for FJR & BMW 1200 RS (why?) and 2 single-sided installation sheets each for German, English and French. One of the...

What did you do to your FJR today?

Thanks for this - I put these exact grips on the KLR a few years back & forgot who made them. I do like them for the reasons you mention. Red would be absolutely gauche on my bike. Might as well be Barbie pink I am assuming I have to cut the stock ones off...what about the heated grip...

    "A Story Worth Living"

Because Hipsters. I don't know about you guys, but when you are on the bike - YOU ARE ON THE BIKE and no where else. No phones. No nagging. No psycho-babble. You are one with the machine and free from the usual stresses. That's the WHOLE POINT of being on the bike. Freedom. They missed the...

    "A Story Worth Living"

It's not playing anywhere near me...I'll have to wait for the Netflix version. I enjoyed both of the Long Way series. I thought they were well done without being overly staged. Watching the trailer for this turned me off within seconds. Good title...but I have a strong feeling it will fail to...
