Actually, the term was coined here before we knew about the multi-brand riding group on Delphi Forums that call themselves New England Riders (NER)

In the FJR world, NERDS is: New England Riders Doing Stuff

The word NERDS was kinda bandied around in '08 and '09 when we were sorta gifted with the phrase, it helped that FJRed and Fred W posted a lot of good technical information. I think initially it was supposed to be New England Riders Doing Shit but it was neutered a bit to keep it family oriented

Then the shit stuff hit the fan with the beginning of the Stowe VT rides.
