if i have a device that draws 10 mA do I need to have it switched or can it run for a day or week or longer without affecting the battery charge?

I should be able to figure this out.... but alas that particular set of neurons have died.

A 10 milli-amp draw would take quite a long time to reduce a 12 AmpHr battery to 50%

You will be fine. As a good habit, connect your bike to a battery tender if it is to be left for more than about 7 days.

Doing the math is complicated because the discharge rate in not linear, and depends on temp, rate of draw, age of battery and a bunch of other stuff.

Briefly though, a 100 milliamp draw would reduce the battery to 50% in approximately 60 hours .... Your draw would do the same in 600 hours.

Thanks Twigg,

You know, I've never let my bike sit as long as a week before, but this winter really is the shitz. snow, salt, subzero, ice, repeat.
