Penski shock

Would anyone be interested in a Penske shock for a Gen I FJR. This would include the optional remove resevor holder made by GP Suspension. I'm trading my bike and want to know if it's worth it to remove the shock and put the stocker back on. The shock has less than 20k highway solo miles two years ago and is set up for a 225 lb rider, but is fully adjustable.

It only takes a few minutes to change and I doubt the dealer will give you much if anything extra on the trade in. You will have no trouble selling it here. I would have an interest but my wife already bought one for my bike.

On trade in, strip everything of value off the bike and return it to stock. You'll be able to recoup some of your farklebucks w/o decreasing the trade in value one bit.

When it's your's on a trade, to a dealer it ain't worth shit. They'll tell you it's a liability.

When it's on a bike on their floor, it's worth a King's Ransom and the best thing in the world!

Take it off. Sell outright here. It will get scooped up in no time. If I didn't already have a HyperPro with remote built for my '05, I'd buy it from you. If the price is right, I might still. :lol:

Scoot, I have the bike for sale on this forum for $4950. I talked to a dealer about trade-in value and he said he would be able to get me more money if I let them sell it on consignment. They would charge $300 minimum plus use the sale as if it was a trade in which would save me sales tax (7%) if I bought another bike from them. I am thinking having them put a price of $5500 on the bike. That would leave 300 for them and a little wiggle room for negotiation.

I would plan on removing the shock, the throttlemeister, possibly the Trex sliders. I doubt it would pay to remove the Wypro plates and reinstall the PAIR system.

IIRC, I paid 750 for the shock and 100 for the remote resivour (sp?) mount. Is $500 shipped to the CONUS too much to ask?

A rebuild on the shock will run around $200 and it is almost due to be done.

Yabbut... as the future owner of this shock, it was my understanding that these Penske 8983 shocks are "owner rebuild-able".

Says so on their web site anyway.

I don't understand all the negative feedback. I just reviewed my records and I paid 895 dollars for the shock, plus a hundred for remote mount. The shock greatly improved the performance of my FJR and there have been several responses wanting to buy this shock. Sorry all you others are having a problem with this transaction. Racer

Negative responses?? Really? Its not their business. Its between you and Fred. Obviously if he thought it was a bad deal he wouldn't have jumped, and Fred's not an idiot. Don't stress it.

Sorry it was just a funny thread, considering how the seller wasn't sure if he should even bother selling it or if anyone would buy. We all know this shock will literally sell within 15 minutes of being posted to the forum.

And to the Seller I wasn't being negative, it was just a funny thread and chain of events to pull up and read, ya gotta admit. Congrats to both on the sale and the pickup!
