Heading off of Long Island in the early AM heading up north. Any ideas of routes to take, or locations to eat? Anyone is more than welcome to come along

PJ, I've been enjoying poking around in NW Conn. and western Mass lately. Cup of coffee on an early ferry to Bridgeport then take Rte. 8 for about a half hour up to at least Torrington (Exit 42). Barkhamsted Reservoir, Granville, Monterey and up towards Hinsdale and Peru will give you plenty of roads to explore and still allow you to get home by dark or soon after.
For more ideas look around the NER website, especially the Best of and Rides & More links. A lot of effort went into that site.
