I was under the impression that BigD was riding up to Crescent City with me on Monday..........

Did something change?

We shall see......those fucking AZ guys change their minds more than Charlie Sheen.........Must be the sun...

I've got a question <hand up in the air>, I'd like to get a decent Rand McNally type paper map for the tank bag to follow along during the rides, in case the used gps craps out...or more likely I do something stoopid to it.

I'd like one for southern Cal, and one for northern Cal. I'd like to get this online before the trip. I've looked at the Rand McNally online site and am not sure if they have what I want.

Do any of you California map users have a recommendation?

Yeah, I was under that impression as well...what post made you think he's changed his mind?
Dude and Dudette, I'm sure Big-D is still riding to Crescent City with you guys, it's Chuy that's Arizona bound on Monday hoping to make Tehachapi or my home in Lake Havasu City for the night!

GregM, Papa, ChuckS and three of his "Goddesses" were out drinking in Skootsdale last night. Senor Sheen definitely knows how to party, we were drinking like we had tiger's blood; WINNING!!!

Wheatie, I'm an AAA member (used to be an AA Member, but I recovered; HA!) and I can score your maps. Do you want them mailed to you or do you just want to have me hand them to you when I see you on Thursday evening 5/19? Anyone that uses GPS could not have had much of a Mother; El Trabajo del Diablo! nuff' said and jes' sayin'

Wow, If you don't mind mailing them to me...I would greatly appreciate it! :clapping: Let me know the damage...and I will write the check right away...send me your street address in a PM and it's off to you right away.

I'll of course buy you the beers of your choice when we meet in Paso Robles! It's coming soon my man! :yahoo:

Edit: Is there anything better than a cold beer or two after a hot dry dusty day of riding? The perfect punctuation mark to a great ride. :yahoo:

Dude, you don't have to pay me, even though I do believe that I have had a beer once before! Send me your mailing address via either PM or to [email protected] I'll go over to AAA on Monday morning and mail them to you that afternoon. I'll ask if they have both a Southern and Northern California map, but I have only seen the one map; but it is very well detailed

"Edit: Is there anything better than a cold beer or two after a hot dry dusty day of riding? The perfect punctuation mark to a great ride." Well Wheatie, two of Charlie Sheen's porn star Goddesses would also do the trick!!!

They do, Don -- sorta. In addition to the "Northern California" map, you'll also want the "Central California" (aka "Bay Area to Lake Tahoe") and "Coast & Valley" (aka "Bay Area to Southern California") maps. It takes 4 or 5 of their maps to cover the state, more or less taking slices via latitudes. Those three should give Wheaties what he needs from L.A. north.

However, also get him the "Southern Nevada" (aka "Death Valley, Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks") map. He'll need that one for the easternmost part of So Calif (anything east of L.A. longitudinally in that southern area) when he's coming in -- including Kernville and Lake Isabella. (The "Coast & Valley" map doesn't cover all the way to the Nevada Border, leaving out the Southern Sierra Nevada mountains in Calif in those latitudes.)

I used to go back and forth to L.A. with these maps before I finally bought and installed my GPS.

With Griff being forced out and Wheatie spending time with relatives, seems I have an extra bed in Buelton on May 17th and Auburn on May 26th.

Anybody need a place to sleep?

Warning they are in smoking rooms.
Paging TwistedCricket :clapping:

;)
....working on the details....if it all works out I could use a place to sleep on the 26th. I won't be joining the fun until the 20th.

(The smoking part might bother me a bit to be honest. I could probably tolerate a night or two.)

As you probably know, AAA also has maps specific, for example, to the wine country, camping sites, county maps, some cities, freeway networks, areas such as Monterey Bay, national parks, etc. .... all for "free" with your membership. Why not pick up a few dozen for Wheatie? And an extra tank bag while you're at it. And a pair of reading glasses.

not sure i am going to Auburn, but in case i do what hotel is it?

Airboss is staying at the Auburn Super8 on Thursday night, May 26th after exskibum has lead us out to Lake Tahoe and back that day. I will be staying in Lincoln that night at my uncle's place.

Tuesday night, MAY 24TH after riding over from Fortuna, Airboss and I will be staying overnight at Bugnatr's. :clapping: Yep, you know where the party's at! :clapping: ;)

Wednesday night, May 25th, after doing the great ride that Bugnatr has planned, we are also staying over at Bugnatr's. There might be a party somewhere....
