Damn that REALLY sucks, but at least you are OK for the most part. On a positive note, you can prolly fix up that plastic yourself with some JB weld!

Sorry, I just couldn't help myself. Keep your head up, you have a fine bike there that with a little TLC will be as good as new!

FWIW... Pop was here today looking at the bike with me. He is impressed with the thing but refused to ride it yet. He rides the '07 in Black Cherry which is a "bold" color. He says this gray looks much better than the pictures, he really liked the color. He thinks the black wheels go well with the gray scheme.

Since I only have 22 unwrecked miles I don't feel comfortable giving a full evaluation but the Gen 3 package is very refined. I will get it back in working order soon and will start making improvements and personalizing it.

Lean towards the improvements part. I'd say you've personalized it enough for the time being.

Mighty bad luck Redfish Hunter; so sorry that it's hard to express. Glad YOU aren't badly wrecked. Broken ribs heal, as most of his here know.

For what it's worth, dropped mine in the office parking lot on my 4th day of ownership ..... attempting to impress a woman. Had to ask for her help to get it stood back up. Guess I really impressed that woman, eh?

Any more information on the new 15?
Anything specific you are looking for? I don't think there's anything changed from the 2014, except for the gorgeous paint color, but I don't have anything to compare it with.

1) stock seat is extremely comfortable (longest ride = 2.5 hours so far)

2) rides like a turbocharged cruise missile

3) sounds quietly powerful except when throttle is twisted hard

4) does not have nor need a 6th gear

5) likes to take naps in parking lots when attractive women are watching

6) enjoys Yellow Jacket victories (!)

7) has grip heaters 10 times warmer than my ex-wife

8) each hardcase can absorb over 250 pages of 11x17 engineering drawings

9) will hit 80 mph while staying within engine break-in guidelines

10) headlight adjusting knobs will fall off if the dealer assembly crew forgets to install the captivating screws

11) ABS is incredibly efficient when you squeeze the lever really hard

..... and I haven't yet taken the throttle control out of "Touring" mode.

..... and I haven't yet taken the throttle control out of "Touring" mode.
I often find "touring" mode more dangerous, not because it lacks power, but because it puts in delay before that power gets to the rear wheel. If I want to overtake or get out of someone's way, I generally want to do it NOW, not a second or so after it's decided to build up the power.

I have used "touring" mode on occasion, it smooths the gear changes of my AS (USA: unobtainable AE) when I've a passenger. Also if I think the road surface is very slippery I'll use it, but normally it's "sport" mode for me.

My throttle is responsive to the slightest wrist motions without delay, perhaps even the thought of moving my wrist. I'm not complaining, I'm marveling at my mechanical sweetheart's behavior, and wondering what kind of response will be available when I shift to Sport. (Holy moley, I'd better be prepared!!)

Does the throttle mapping for the AS/AE have something built-in to accommodate no clutch?

Trying to be a good boy for the first 600 miles ..... and I'm at 550. It'll happen as soon as the rain stops.

I don't find any delay at all in Touring mode on my 13. I just have a larger angle of twist on the throttle. Smoother is what I get...

Edit: I find that Touring mode is good for keeping me from twisting the grip too aggressively when in town. It helps keep me "calmer"...because Sport mode is so fun that just twisting that throttle just begs for more. Touring mode may keep me from a ticket or two...

Yes Hud, you are thoroughly going to enjoy Sport mode when you are able to finally crack that throttle.

Be on your toes though. None of us want any repeat of RFH's unfortunate dismount.

Nothing to do with the electrically operated clutch and gearbox.

Try it. You'll like it. And then you'll become totally addicted to it.

Just remember to respect it.

So so sorry to hear this Andrew :( , my best wishes for a speedy recovery and yes, don't worry about the bike. That stuff can wait. Get well quickly is priority. And, this doesn't get you off the hook either for your upcoming ride to meet all of us ying-yangs.

Interesting...i am the opposite....most of my riding is in T mode, but always in S mode in town. I find that the S mode is "easier" when starting and stopping and varying speed often.

Ok, "delay" is the wrong word. With "touring", the acceleration starts imediately, but takes an amount of time to build up to proper FJR levels (which is its whole point), whereas with "sport", acceleration can come in very quickly.

As for using "touring" in town, the YCC-S works so well that there's no real advantage unless it's slippery. Even then, there'd only be a problem with snatching the throttle in a low gear, certainly none when moving from rest in a straight line or changing gear. It's the smoothest take-off I've ever known on a bike, manual or electric. I've not tried hard acceleration starting off in a corner when it's slippery. Too many Gen IIIs have been left on their sides already.

On the open road, for me it's rare to find any advantage in "touring" mode.
