    2009 2 million mile push !

185.5 miles. Rode south from Seattle, hooked around onto the Olympic Peninsula and up alongside the Hood Canal. Cold as hell but lovely.

So we were low on milk…

Atta boy. Good thing you weren't after something really important, like a nice little microbrew four states over.

The Million Mile Challenge. Who's In?

Z My suggestion . . . Start a new thread and call it: 2009 Million Mile Challenge + or something like that. I set up a spreadsheet in google docs and invite people who want in on the fun. The people who got in on the fun this year will I'm sure play next year. I'd leave the "challenge" at 1...

What did you learn this year (2008)?

We did this last year and I wonder if people would be up for it again this year . . . In the spirit of the holidays and friendship, what did you learn this year, or learn about yourself this year, as a result of riding, hanging with riders, or anything else to do with motorcycling. I'll start...

Pictures and Musings from Seattle Motorcycle Show

Since I was ten years old or so I've been going to car show, motorcycle shows, both, occasionally neither, sometimes boats . . . you get the idea. This was my fourth Seattle Motorcycle Show, one a year since I've moved here. Quick Takes Where the hell was BMW. The guys at Ride West told me...

That's just a stunning report all the way around. My body screams when I ride my Aprilia for more than about an hour.

HD brings XR1200 Sportster to US

You saw it here first . . Becuase I write a motorcycle blog (www.midliferider.com) I got an email from a colleague at Harley Davidson. Depending on when you read this, it's actually breaking news (and the photos are not on the HD website). I wanted to let you in on the excitement at...

The Million Mile Challenge. Who's In?

To Colin's point, we've crushed 1 million miles. Well done. I will do a final tally at the end of the year and then the 2008 challenge will be closed. I'll leave it to someone else to issue and track a challenge next year if they want to. Or perhaps we should just have a "what did you do on...

The Million Mile Challenge. Who's In?

Miles to here are . . . 1,206,344.5 There is a question about FJR vs. non FJR miles. The non FJR miles are probably 15,000 or so.

    2009 BMW K1300GT

So this probably isn't the thread then to say that I bought one, huh? Massive end of year discount brought it down to the "stupidly expensive" from the "galactically expensive" category.

The Million Mile Challenge. Who's In?

There was a time when I wondered if we would get there. Well thanks to stalwarts and new contributors down the stretch, we've made the million mile work look like easy pickings. I suspect that all in, the forum rode at least 50% more miles than what we're reporting. And the total to here is ...

The Million Mile Challenge. Who's In?

Thanks for the kind words. I always have to force myself to do the tallies but I get such a kick out of reading what everyone has been doing . . . which was the whole point of this exercise. Someday some social scientist should do a deep dive on all this data. It paints such a rich picture.
