    Soltek + FZ1 mirrors = confusion

Anyone install the soltek brackets AND the FZ1 mirrors? My mounting studs are too short to make this work with any threads showing. Also, the stainless steel mounting fittings replace the ones that come from the factory, right? How do I get the old ones out of there?

    Downloading videos from you-tube?

Anyone know how to download a video from you-tube? I live in the sticks, and I'm lucky to have electricity, but not lucky enough to have broad band. I do have the satellite 'broad band', but it kinda sucks too. i have a 175 meg quota in 8 hours, so i can't watch big movies at home, so I'd...

Using the GenII hazard switch for other than 'hazards'

Well, I'm finally about ready to install the solteks, and I was thinking about where to put a switch so it would be quick to flip off. Looking at that hazard switch I decided that I might be able to use it to flip a relay for the solteks. But, I'd like to know more before I start ripping it...

Anyone use that silicone tape door prize from EOM?

Anyone use that silicone tape door prize from EOM? Hopefully there'll be some excellent silicone tape adventures posted here, and next year I'll direct TED to this thread to see how much we liked it. This year he sent 27 rolls, perhaps he'll send more next time if we seemed to like it.

Is there a neurologist in the house?

I'm 40, and about 4 years ago I got my first migraine. I got sparkles in my vision, and at first it was kinda trippy, but a half hour later, I had a mind spitting headache. Suck! I'd get 2 or 3 a year, and they suck, but I've learned that as soon as I see the sparkles coming, I'd down 3...

    Pennzoil with the re-grouping molecules?

I saw a commercial for a new Pennzoil that had a lovely animation of a drop of oil going thru a couple of gears, getting chopped up, then regrouping after it left the gear. The propaganda from the announcer was something about "this cool oil reforms after being molested by your motor", or...

    Dude, that is not cool

So I went to the local fall festival to help in the local food booth (all proceeds go to cancer stuff) and I rode the FJR. After my 4 hour shift of serving tenderloins and burgers I headed back to the bike. It was about 8:30, and dark by then. I parked behind my wife's office, literally less...

Viewing the assistance list on n iPod?

I just got an e-mail with the assistance list attached, very nice! I always take my iPod with me, and so it seems like a good idea to put the list on it. Does anyone do that? Can it be done?

    Sliding or rolling

My brother-in-law rides his last generation Gold wing, usually with a T shirt, a ball cap, and maybe denim shorts if he's feeling dangerous. When we ride together, i make a comment about me and ATGATT etc. He really is a low and slow rider, so he'll probably never low side, even with sand and...

Who is spending Thursday night in Lewisburg?

I see a few posts here and there that hint that some folks might be staying Thursday night. (probably shorter lines at the tire store on Thursday afternoon)

    TomTom 510 for $199

Anyone used the TomTom 510? I found a place that has it for $199, not refurb. With the aplication of a ziplock bag and a rubberband might it be a nice low cost cycle GPS? HERE is a review. Anyone have any input? Thanks

    Wanted: Mix-it 2

I was looking to get some bike-2-bike radio going before EOM, but alas, my suspension over spent my budget. So, now I'm looking for a Mix-it to listen to my iPod and Escort. I have a Y cable, but I've heard form more than one source that this setup will wreck something. If anyone has a...

Anyone slabbing thru Kentucky on I-64 on Friday the 14th?

I'll probably take the straight shot to EOM, because I'm sure there will be plenty of tasty roads there in WV. I'll be picking up I-64 in Indiana, just west of Louisville. Me departure time is open for discussion.

    Hard-wiring an Escort x50

I can't help but notice that the power hookup for the escort is just an RJ11 phone jack. Seems I could get one of the many black phone cords I've got laying around (Thank you Dell), and wire it to my blue sea instead of buying the $30 cord form Escort. No?

    New suspension on order

I just ordered a new penske 8983 from Traxxion Dynamics, and I put money down for them to upgrade my forks if I can ship 'em to them. I was searching for write-up on installing the shock, and I see FJRocket did a very nice photo journal on his 06AE. Thanks Rocket. I also found an article on...

    looking for a computer geek!

10+ years ago, I had a program that I could set to look at the title of a requester window and click one of the buttons in the requester. Example; "are you sure you want to quit?" Then it would instantly click the button I programmed it to, "yes". My wife's office software has two (2) pesky...

    GPS and mapping

While clicking around on Google maps I noticed there is a new switch that says "Avoid Highways", which seems to mean "Avoid Interstates". It seems like a pretty neat feature for the cyclist looking for a country ride. That got me to wondering; Do the GPS units have that option also? (Another...

    Teliscopic AND Soltek

I've got the HID where the halogen bulbs used to be, and all is good. Skyway will has some of the overkill Solteks in the mail for me soon, so I need to think about some wiring. I was thinking about the telescopic kit, and noticing how it has a power lead that goes directly to the battery, and...
