For those of you who've wanted to learn the ropes of riding Mexico, here's a perfect 1st outing for you. Brian "El Jefe" Boles y Don "Papa Chuy-El Burrito Ballerina" Stanley will show you ins & outs.

Many on FJR Forum have expressed, by public posts and private messages, a willingness to ride a motorcycle into Mexico; but don't understand the Banjercito and Turista Carta: this trip is for you.

Just sound off with what dates will work best from January to April 2011 and BB and Chuy will show you all of the entry and exit processes for yourself and your motocicleta. Bonita E. Sonora Estado!

https://www.azbeemers.org/forum/index.php?t...g18825#msg18825 Saludos Owners Tom and Lynn Matthews, I won the AZ Beemers Road Runner Rally 2010 Drawing for Hotel Los Arcos.

Already started Upcoming Ride Report at BMW MOA Club #89 Web Site and will post this up at www.fjrforum.com too. Looking forward to our stay and will bring along mas Amigos! Fiesta! Arriba!

My Girlfriend Donna and I want to extend our many thanks to Gary "Mudslide" Miller for his very generous gift to us of the Free Two Nights Stay at Hotel Los Arcos in Banamichi, Sonora, Mexico. In the Spirit of "Pay It Forward", Donna and I've decided to share this gift with our good Mexico Riding Friends Brian and Melanie Boles.
The Boles' will take one of the free nights and Papa Chuy will take the other free night; and we'll each pay for a night. We'll run this M/C Excursion between January and April of 2011, when the Sonora River Valley is green and cool. This expedition will require Mexico Vehicle Import Permit Banjercito for your Motocicleta and Mexico Turista Carta for Yourself, but BB and I've done these many times and we'll coach you how to do the process. Arriba, Fiesta, mas Tequila, Baile y Viva Mexico!

Ride can be done on either Road Bikes or Dual Sports. Donna and I will be on our 2009 BMW F650GS Twin, hopefully with a new Sargeant Seat on mi "Salma Hayek"!

I'm going to see if Los Arcos Owners Tom & Lynn Matthews can provide a Jeep/driver for our ladies. So if Brian brings his new baby along, 30th Anniversary Model F800GS, we boys can go off-roading while Las Mujeres can go 4-wheeling; or shopping, as the case may well be. Lots to see and do on our AZ Beemers Event!!!

August, 2010

Hola from Banámichi.

The monsoons are here, bringing higher humidity and thunderstorms. Everything is green and growing and the Sonora Desert is starting to bloom. Some of our storms (las tormentas) have provided spectacular lightning shows and another spectacular show is on tap for August 12th when the Perseid Meteor showers will make their annual appearance. The moon will set early this year and given clear skies, Banámichi will afford a great place to watch. Reserve your spot on the terrace now. Almost like clockwork, in mid September, the monsoons end and the weather changes. Dry days with blue skies and cool, clear nights return.

September also brings two important celebrations to Banámichi. September 8th is Dia de Nuestra Señora de Loreto. Since La Señora is the patron of the church in town, this is an important celebration. September 16th marks the Bicentennial of Mexico's independence from Spain in 1810. Early in the morning of September 15th, the "Desfile del Gallo" (Parade of the Rooster) will commence with fireworks about 4 am. Everyone in town (well, maybe not Lynn) will march through the predawn streets to celebrate the "Grito de Dolores" (the Cry of Dolores") to commemorate Miguel Hildalgo's call for independence to his countrymen. After the parade, all will gather at the main plaza for free coffee, menudo and sweet rolls. The night of the 15th will mark the start of the fiesta in Banámichi, with music, dancing, food booths and more at the main plaza. On September 16th, the town will turn out for the big parade at 9 am. Cultural events, baile folklorico (folk dancers), and food will follow the parade. Music and dancing will continue in the park each night through Saturday. At 1 pm, Saturday, horse races will be held at the quarter horse track.

There will be plenty of great food at the park. Carne asada tacos, tamales, tortas. The other restaurants in town will have their always tasty offerings. Pictured below is Martin Romero of the Taqueria Romero. Martin specializes in carne asada tacos cooked over a mesquite fire. The taste of mesquite roasted Sonoran beef with all the fixings will make you want more. The Taqueria is open every night from 6:30 to 11:00 pm daily.

Let Hotel Los Arcos de Sonora be your base to enjoy the fiestas and to explore and discover the enchantment of Banámichi and the Rio Sonora. Our beautifully landscaped patio and ten individually decorated rooms provide a serene refuge from the cares of modern life and a gourmet breakfast is included in your stay. Gourmet coffee is available all day. Call and make your reservations now and take advantage of our Bicentennial "Stay two, get the third free" offer for the month of September. (Some restrictions apply.)

Be sure to take a look at the article about Hotel Los Arcos at mexicoguru.com and spend some time on their interesting and fun web site. It's a great site to study up on your Mexican slang.

Banámichi is a quiet and safe small town. Come and wander. Meet the friendly people of the Rio Sonora and take your time and get to know the small towns along the valley, stop and view the churches and town plazas that give rural Mexico its identity. Horse back ride, walk along the river at sunset or visit the thermal pools nearby. Planning to visit Alamos, Kino Bay or San Carlos? Then take the long scenic route and discover what the Rio Sonora Valley has to offer.

Gift Shop

The gift shop at Hotel los Arcos de Sonora is open and filled with great items. Everything from the classic sombrero, to hand crafted lariats. We have hand-painted ceramic items, beautiful original Mexican art work and much more.
