Great report! Welcome to the forum!

My 2 cents on the centerstand. I like you just got my bike 2 months ago. The easiest thing for me was actually the silliest. Here's my tip, make sure that both pegs of the stand are touching the ground evenly. you will think the bike is going over but it's not. Once they are firmly planted simply hold the left grip with your left hand and with your right grab the pocket under the frame lean back and voila', it pops right up. I spent many trys rocking that bad boy off center and being 5'11" and a muscular 210lbs. it didn't move an inch. Good luck.

+1 on the Powerlet outlet. Simple to hook up, gives you lots and current and can be used for anything. Later on, when you get a better idea of your needs you can get into hard wiring. You'll always use the Powerlet though. IMO, it's "must have".

Thanks for the kind replies.

I've already ordered the Powerlet. I'm going to go with the Zumo 550 for navigation and XM. I'm thinking the Chatterbox XBi2 for comms. For those that have tried both, is there a significant difference in sound between the Scala and the Chatterbox?

I apologize for my insensitivity regarding the CCW issue. I realize this is a large board and that, in certain areas of the country, openly exercizing one's natural rights is tabboo.

Also, thanks for the posts on the centerstand. I had hossed it up twice, but needed to sit down afterwards. After talking to Ricardo, the bike has been lowered. Evidently that can get the CS geometry a little out of whack.

I was also failing to ensure that both feet were touching before lifting. Additionally, I had my right hand on the grab rail instead of under the subframe. After taking the advice here, it now pops right up like it's on Viagra.

Ricardo is sending the links to get it back to it's original height, but I'm not sure I want to change. Opinions?

What's your inseam?

I think the lowering dog bones are typically 3/4 to an Inch? If you want to test the feel. The seat height is adjustable. I would assume the previous owner had the seat in the lowest position. You can move the seat up a notch to gain an idea how removing the dog bones would do to the ergo's. From what I've heard, the Feej handles lowering well (other than the center stand).

Like everyone else I enjoyed reading your report and its always fun to read another's FJR experience. BTW I've always called them Waterburgers and they are tasty especially on road trips.

Mostly for others I'd like to say it isn't a big deal carrying a concealed weapon on a motorcycle as long as you have a permit. Several web sites provide info of reciprocity between states and individual state requirements. Before I take a trip I check out each state to make sure there are no surprises and that I'll be in compliance.

Thanks for the entertaining read and enjoy your FJR.

Bill
