D&H Cycle in Cullman, AL sells the ES for $16k. No additional destination fees or setup fees. You just add your local tax and license to that price. For the most part that's the lowest price I've heard of. I've heard of a similar deal from one guy, but that was to someone who had a long standing relationship with his dealer. This price nets the dealer about $1,250. An MSRP sale get's them about another $2k.
The majority of the other deals I've read about are around $17 to $17.2k. The dealer nets about $2.2k. A buddy in the LA area got his last week for $17.1k. A dealer in my area made a similar deal about 100 miles north of Seattle. A dealer in Salem, OR quoted me $16.75k. I decided to buy from D&H and pay $650 to ship it to Seattle. $100 less than the Salem deal and saves me a day of driving and riding as the bike from D&H will be delivered to my door.
These prices are the right here, right now prices for a new model just as they are arriving at dealers. Time will tell if this pricing level stands. They typically don't once more bikes are allotted and availability increases. Next fall and winter will have an effect on pricing of available stock.

@PP - Adventure and Ride in Woodinville have (had) '16ES's sitting in their showrooms. Visit them with checkbook in hand and a reasonable offer and see what happens...never know! I'd say if you can pick one up for $17k ish, no adds, you'll have done well.

This may be a good thing! Now you have time to read the manual and know which thingies need to be checked for proper fitment. Most importantly, make sure the security screws on the side case locks have loc-tite applied!!! After all that you can start removing some of the Yamaha advertising, ie; decal on front fender, decal on gas tank, plastic stick-on things on the side fairings. People at the gas stations will ask you how you like your BMW!!!I still don't have my bike, but I got the 2016 service manual!

I've started to look through it today. Kind of surprised there is nothing in the service manual regarding removing bodywork?? I'll do some searching here on the site to learn about the security screws. Thanks for the tip!

Saddle bag locks - the small screws that hold the latch need to be loctited if the dealer didn't do it. If you lose latch parts, you could lose a saddlebag.

I've got to put my two cents in here! I'm a little older than some of you so I haven't owned that many bikes (I'm only my 6th one) but I bought my first one from a dealer yesterday.
A friend told me that Ride Motorsports in Woodinville took a '14 in on trade for a new one. A few days later I wandered in to see if there was even a chance at making a deal. I walked out after looking at it thinking no way would they talk to me. The next day I went in to talk with Bill, the salesman, and within a few minutes he had the owner into the conversation. Less than a half hour later they made me a pretty reasonable offer. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't fantastic, but when you are specifically looking for a RED one in excellent shape with low mileage there isn't a lot to choose from.
The next day I went in and wrote them a check and handed them the keys to my '11 with tons of accessories on it. They were happy and I was smiling. What more could a guy want. They did the next major service for me and even made me a great deal on a new front tire. Guess what I'm saying is it feels good buying from a dealer who has been regularly giving me great service on my old bike. Told the service manager that now he has me for life.

In 2004 I bought a new Honda ST1300 from Ride Motorsports to replace the ST1100 I had just totaled. I called ride on the phone, made them a cash offer, they ran a couple of numbers and 5 minutes later we had a deal. Quick and easy...
When I started looking at the 2016 FJR I went into I90 Motorsports, (owned by the same person who owns Ride), and made an offer on an FJR. They hedged and hawed and said no. Called them back a week later after doing some more research and made a higher offer, about $250 higher than I'm paying to D&H including shipping. They again said no.
I stopped by there today to see if they had a 2016 on the sales floor. I didn't tell the sales person I had already purchased from D&H. I just wanted to see the bike in person and figured they might have one since Ride had one. They still had a 2015 A on the floor. They have the 2016 across the street in storage??
I did tell my buddy in parts that I had already purchased a 2016 from D&H but that I would still be buying parts and accessories from them. For over 10 years I've been in their system with a nice discount so I buy from them whenever I can.
I tried to buy the FJR from them, but I'm not going to throw away hundreds of dollars if I can help it. They would have may nearly $2k on the deal I offered. I guess they want more, like full MSRP. It looks like they sell a very small number of FJRs so they are trying to maximize their profit. I get it, but I had options and I chose to go a different route.

I appreciate you looking for the best deal. I'm retired after being in straight commission sales for almost 40 years and folks like you used to drive me crazy. I know you want to get the best deal possible but do you have to rub their noses in it. Personally I'm sick and tired of hearing about D&H. My only hope is that the local dealers treat you with the same courtesy and you have shown them when it comes time to have a problem resolved.
You might look back on all your postings to see how many times you have brought this up.

Soooo.....not to change the subject here or anything. I took the new FJR on about a 100 mile ride today. I rode with a friend who has a C14. We headed due south of Meridian, through Kuna, out to the Swan Falls dam on the Snake River.
The 6 speed is one of the smoothest motorcycle transmissions I've experienced. I am anxious to hear what other 2016 owners have to say about how it shifts. I can also say that the 6th gear seems about right, and I was not always looking for that next gear like I was on my 2008.
The new bike also seems to have less brake dive that my '08 had as well, although I have not yet changed any suspension settings on the new bike.

Sorry if I've offended you. I didn't rub anything in the sales persons nose. I didn't even talk to or tell him I bought a bike. I ran into my parts buddy and he asked me if I had bought a bike so I told him I did. I also believe I offered them a fair deal. They chose not to take it and I chose not to pay MSRP.
I didn't discover D&H and their good deals on my own, I found out about them here. I read the many other threads mentioning D&H here and on other sites. I used that information to come up with a price which was mutually beneficial. Yes, in the end I went with D&H. The people were nothing but friendly, helpful and straight shooters. I heard the same from a group of forum members who visited with them a few weekends ago. That wasn't my experience with many of the local dealers I spoke with. I would be touting a local dealer here if I found one willing to deal.
The service and parts department at I90 have treated me very fairly for over 15 years and I will continue to take my business there.
Whenever I see a post asking about pricing on the new 2016 I gladly share what I have learned and yes, you'll hear me mention D&H. I'm sorry, but MSRP is exactly that, a 'suggested' price. I know people in sales <want> to get MSRP and sometimes do, but I try to negotiate. As the IT Director at a large engineering firm I deal with hardware and software sales people on a daily basis. I'm sure I do drive them crazy, about as crazy as they drive me. But that's business and part of what's expected of me by ownership. I simply don't think list price is a "great deal".
I think I found the guy down in Salem that wants to do business! Today was pretty frustrating the dealers up here are just not motivated to sell but that's ok. I have family down there would be a good excuse to go down to see them for the weekend. Didn't get any hits on the Craigslist add but changed it to SOLD just to rattle some nerves.

It was Andrew, but he did cc all the guys in the shop in one of his emails and I saw Shane included in there.
I'm still in a bit of shock that I found someone my first day of looking so thanks a bunch.
I stopped by one of the local dealers yesterday to show my wife the bike and she loves it. One of the guys in the shop smelled blood and was just drooling to make the kill. I didn't appreciate his comments and smartly departed before I said something I was going to regret. I suppose talking with them in the past months I was pretty excited about the bike and that led him to the wrong conclusion. Will have to keep that in mind when ever I have to deal with him again.
I'm really glad I found this forum it looks like there are quite a few guys from the area so that is supper cool.
