Steve

I’m going on a Cen Cal “President’s Weekend Ride to Death Valley, CA. in 2009”
I just made a reservation* for 2 riders (one room for 2 nights) on February 13, and 14, 2009, at the Motel 6, Beatty, Nevada here:

https://www.stagecoachhotelcasino.com/

...and here is the preliminary Ride post from this FJR 1300 Forum last year in '08;

https://www.fjrforum.com/forum//index.php?showtopic=29933

...also, this is the following Ride Report from Cen Cal's 2008 ride;

https://www.fjrforum.com/forum//index.php?showtopic=100355

Anyone on this Forum is Welcome to join “me” on this ride on any brand of bike (but please bring an “adequate number of cc’s”) :D . The itinerary will be similar to last year, however “you” will arrive in Beatty on your own, and ride your own ride even “if” you choose to ride with any group who is "present" on this weekend. I "choose" this weekend to DV, because it is a 3 day holiday weekend from work for me. <_<

*There are other places in Beatty, NV to lodge like the Phoenix Motel, Motel 6, etc.

Chime in your interest or send me a PM. More info later!

LOL, no competition. My post is a joke. It would take a week to ride all that. I found those tracks from AdvRider.com and thought they were pretty cool. I'd like to go back to DV with a FODS run sometime. Camp out, do some back trails, back to base camp at night.

Yes there is a hot spring out there. And it is clothing optional. However I am not sure about "Beautiful nekkid wimmen". I guessing 1-2 out of three. However very unlikely 3 out of 3. knowing the clothing optional crowd.

From the pictures I saw it looks to be a pretty nice one.

I have the saturday ride mapped out in Mapsource. If anyone wants it or know how to post it. I will provide it. I did it based of his route instrucitons. Its the exact opposite of the ride we did two years ago I think.

Hi Steve!

Sure, "if" you want to publish a Mapsource based a ride route on the above, be my guest! I'm still going to try to ride this thing as per my original post! Guess I'll see whoever is with me in Beatty on Friday and Saturday nights ? but it will be :cold:

Yeah, Dcarver's post IS a joke! Riding Titus Canyon alone on a two track, could take a full day.

But good Idea on the FODS later in the year as a dual sport ride, Don. All I gotta do is find myself a bike to do it on?

I'd like it, PM with email addie sent. Thank You!

My father-in-law and his friends (who live in Ridgecrest) decided to head out to DV this past weekend took some pictures of the havoc the weather was playing on the roads. With possible showers all week looks like there will be some sandy roads out there.
Here is a link to pictures and a bit of a description

Wow, what beautiful pics!!! what a difference a few days can make (i was there the weeend before), you FIL had more exciting weather than our boring 80degree, sunshine and no wind.
I sure wish I was going down to meet up with these guys! I'll be living it vicariously, :-(

https://s52.photobucket.com/albums/g5/BMWK1...mview=slideshow Titus Canyon, last 3rd.

Mi buen amigo, Jorge: You really only need an hour and a half for Titus Canyon if you are hauling ass on a BMW GS and it is dry as a bone, as it was for us on January 24. If you put a pint of Jack Daniel's into The Kreston Kid he should be able to ride it on Wabs in about an hour. You might have to pick the cholla spines out of his ass though, along with sand in his jock strap. But if he can dual sport Titus Canyon and get out to Teakettle Junction and back in a day: He is a man among men!

With this wet and stormy weather I can guarantee that the elevated passes North and South of Saline Valley are going to make that track an absolute nightmare! With the snow forecasted for Death Valley this weekend, ride as a group; not solo!!

Don Don, thanks for sharing your slides and the report on your January ride above. I'm thinking about avoiding ALL off road on this trip! But "if" you can believe it? The Nor Cal BMW Airheads are still going to hold their yearly camp out at Furnace Creek this weekend, rain or shine. One of the guys going with us has opted to haul a trailer load of firewood to Furnace Creek day after tomorrow. Die Hards!

I hate to say this but I am pulling out. Not due to weather but for another reason. I need to pick something up in San Francisco this weekend. So I am going up there to take care of that. I hope all goes well and all are safe. I am bummed as the wife and I were going to hit some of the local hot springs. One of which is just a few miles north of Beatty. But if my trip to San Fran goes well then many trips are in my future. More info to come later.

This is "CANDY ASS" bailing out on the SnowBall Run to Death Valley :dribble: Will go when it's FUN & not a -----!

Best Wishes & BE SAFE :cold:

That tears it, 3 bailouts in the last 3 hours! I'm out! Gotta reschedule President's day now. Probably paint the kitchen :angry:

https://www.dvnha.org/morning_report/Morning.pdf George, you are an extraordinary adventure rider; but sometimes, mi amigo: Discretion is the better part of valor. I have been riding Death Valley for forty of my sixty years, every single year except when I was overseas in the US Army. The weather report above is absolutely the worst I've seen at anytime before!

This is first time I've seen every single road withinin DV shut down and closed; and all roads into DV requiring snow chains!

Death Valley Weather Gods Are Very Angry This Weekend: Probably pissed off at the fact dcarver was coming their way!!!
