Damn Redtail! We were there at the same time. During the hostage crisis the USS Midway did 186 days of 24/7 flying with all Bombs Cocked, Locked and Ready to Rock! I still have nightmares!! on the 100th day we stood down for a steel beach BBQ and got issued 2 beers each. Those among us that didn't drink were selling their beers for $100. There was a fucking line a mile long to pay $100 get that third beer!! Ahhhhhhhh the Memories!

Yea buddy, I was your escort.

Funny that nobody mentions all that fire power appearing offshore, they credit "negotions" for the release of the hostages. Either way, glad we could help!

I rented a room on base Keesler AFB a few weeks ago before attending the USS Mississippi (SSN-782) commissioning in Pascagoula, MS.

Cheap rate, but had to do a room that shared a bathroom. It was Friday night so all the young USAF guys & gals were whoopin' it up in the courtyard down below me, and the room that shared the bathroom with me was at first playing video games, then doing some intense 'fraternization' with another - hopefully female - making alot of noise.

No biggy - I was an interloper in their midst and remembered when I was a young buck albeit I never had it this good in Navy barracks.... The noise in the courtyard and the room next to me died down by ~2300 anyway so still got some good sleep and ready for the commissioning the next morning.

I never had it this good in Navy barracks....
fljab, you're right about the Navy Barracks. It Sucked big time. I got sent Chanute AFB for 4 months of NDI School as an E-6. They put me in the TDY Barracks. It was palatial. Had a big room to myself and it came with made service! I couldn't believe it! Those Air Force Guys had it made. :)

 Surly, I rememeber when the Aussies came to Okinawa for joint excerises and had a football (soccer)game with the joint US forces team. The Aussies proceeded to kick our arse while their goalie sat on the bench and drank all the beer.
