    FJR1300 top speed?

I just got back from a trip that included a lot of Wyoming... the max speed on my Zumo says 114 (I was passing - not cruising at that speed!). So effortless!

    Thousand mile day.

I've done it numerous times (usually about 1300 miles) back in the 1990's on my old FJ1200 while running various "Team Strange" 24-hour rallies here in Minnesota. Now that I'm older, with a better bike, and best-equipped to run these kinds of events with a minimum of discomfort, I have 100%...

Fixing 41 year old Honda CBX mirrors....

Fun and satisfying to get something fixed up and working like new. Nicely done!

    Minnesota FNG here.

Welcome from Minneapolis! I spent all last Sunday (so warm out) in the driveway installing a new DVR into my black 2008.... And then it snowed.

    Tail of the Dragon

I purchased two photos from my visit in October 2020. On one, the bike looks glossy and clean, and on the other you can see that I rode over 1,000 miles to get there from Minneapolis. I like both of 'em for different reasons!

    I'm a dumbass

My spare ignition keys are inside my Givi topcase. My spare Givi topcase keys are in a pan under the seat. If I lose BOTH keys at the same time, I'm hosed. But if either of them bends/breaks by itself, I'm covered (and, frankly, if one is desperate, getting into a Givi topcase is not that...

ear buds or in helmet bluetooth

All this money and jazzy equipment... I've been using my $90 "BeatsX" bluetooth headset under my helmet for the past couple of years and it's been working great. I can get the helmet on/off over them without ripping them out of my ears. They seal nicely to keep out most of the road noise...

2008 fairing screw/bolt missing - where to get a replacment?

Buying a bag of old bolts actually sounds like a most-excellent idea. It was going to cost me almost $30 just to get 4 bolts shipped. (Thought maybe I'd go to a Yamaha dealer and see what the cost is right at the parts counter, first - maybe this weekend?). If that strikes out, or if the...

2008 fairing screw/bolt missing - where to get a replacment?

Thanks! That's it! Neato, I can get it from Amazon for only $10 each. Hey, free shipping. Thanks for the part number.

2008 fairing screw/bolt missing - where to get a replacment?

There are three screws on each side of the fairing - in a line right above the turn signals. I just realized I'm missing one! I looked at the exploded diagram on BikeBandit but can't see the bolt size. "No matter", I thought to myself, "the GYSM at home will certainly make everything clear"...

    Folding a Aerostitch roadcrafter

I've got a two-piece RoadCrafter and with a bit of creativity I can get it into the side bag, but it's really really difficult. Closing the door so that the latches can engage was a process which *almost* resulted in me pushing the bike over! So now I put the helmet in a sidebag and the...

    Battery

I'm the 3rd owner of my 2008 with about 14,000 miles (just got it last July). Is there an easy way to tell if the battery in there is the one which shipped with the bike? If not... I'll probably just get a new one this spring to avoid having "issues" down the road.

Lesson learned: Go easy on the key when opening/closing panniers!

Well, not so much "pulled on the key" as "didn't seek to specifically exclude the key from any of the force of opening or closing" - which I'll be doing from now on!

Lesson learned: Go easy on the key when opening/closing panniers!

I discovered today, as the 2nd owner of a 2008 FJR, that I've been sloppy about opening/closing my pannier. Here's the normal usage: Insert key, turn key, PULL ON KEY to raise the flap. Then I insert/remove whatever in the pannier. Close pannier, PUSH ON FLAP/KEY to close pannier. Last...

2008 FJR - am I missing some kind of bolt?

Part number: 90109-06037-00 I need two, but ordered 4 so I can put a couple of 'em in my toolkit for later.
