    Engine Oil

I think most people are using an oil that meets the specifications outlined in their owners manual.

    Suspension Upgrade: Need Help

+3 for Lee and Traxxion, I'm running a Penske and their AK20's. The bike is a magic carpet and Lee is tops to deal with. If you can change your oil, you can swap suspension parts.

Thread spin off about possible change to Rotella Diesel Oil

I just got an oil analysis done on my 05, nothing but Rotella T dino since 600 miles, other than one change with synthetic Rotella. I switched back to the Dino Rotella from the synthetic as that was the only time I had to add a little make up oil in a 3000 mile change interval, and I didn't...

    TwoWheelNuts Anniversary ride

I bought some of the stuff from his sale, and thought of him on recent Bun Burner ride I did. I never met him, or really conversed with him on the board much, but I could tell he was special because of the way he was missed. His old front fender has been leading my travels on the FJR, and I hope...

    'Unauthorized' TB synch

Great, today is the day I go out to do this, and the photo is now gone from this post. I'm sure I can figure it out, but from now on I guess I'll save any photo's I think I might need later. ON EDIT: wow. must be a photbucket issue, now I can see it again. I'll snag it so it...

    Installing Tapered Roller Bearings

I bought the driver tool a long time ago to do this, and unless you can borrow one, I think it's money well spent. I read the threads about how people had to heat/cool the stem, take it to a shop to get it pressed on, and some that never got it fully seated. With this tool, a few whacks at room...

Do you “Hang Off” your FJR ??????

I move around on the street, even though I don't really go fast enough to need to. If I am prepared to drastically tighten my line (hanging off), and I need to, I can. If I don't meet a deer or SUV, I got some exercise. I don't see a downside. Unless you are someone who cares what other people...

    90 degree valve stems

I got this instead: Works on all my bikes, and makes it so any air chuck works easily. Even the big truck stop ones.

Paint codes and matching a 2005

My buddy said it was $40 cost, but the list was $70. He also polished the decals and cleared over them, so they won tarnish again. I hadn't even noticed they were dull.

Paint codes and matching a 2005

I got my panels back today, and I think the match is flawless, from every angle. I couldn't be happier.

    Steering head ring nuts

Did you see this thread: https://www.fjrforum.com/forum//index.php?showtopic=115111 ? Another option that works well.

Paint codes and matching a 2005

Alrighty then, just back from the painter, and have the codes in hand. I have two codes, one is apparently what the Prophet system saw as the closest factory match, and then the one that the Prophet modified to be the match. I won't type out the factory one unless someone wants it. It shows on...

Paint codes and matching a 2005

I did talk to the paint guy, I had left him a message wanting the formula. He called me and said he gave it to the painter for me. Not exactly what I wanted, but I will get it next time I am in the area. I saw the price on this per quart, and it was $40 cost, $70 list. I feel bad that I have...

Paint codes and matching a 2005

I didn't know how much coding was needed to identify the color, I thought the four digit code would translate to a formula for a PPG dealer. I'll call the paint guy and see EXACTLY what someone would need to walk into their PPG dealer and get a quart.

Paint codes and matching a 2005

Well, I finally made it back to the shop to check on the paint, and I think it looks like a great match. I took a photo of the chip against the the panel, for a comparison. My buddy was shining the "sun gun" light on it. The chip is the lower portion, the factory panel is in the top/left side of...

Installing All Balls Racing Tapered Steering Head Bearings

Despite the fact I love data, I ended up setting the torque the old fashion way, I just tightened to zero end play and then by feel. I am still waiting on bady panels, so I can't confirm it is correct at speed.

Paint codes and matching a 2005

I just got the word that the salesmen got a paint sample to my painter, and my painter approved of it. :clapping: If he thinks it is good enough to blend, I don't really need to see it. It will be too close for me to tell. It is a PPG formula, the salesmen used their matching machine and...

Paint codes and matching a 2005

Well, the paint salesmen called me back claiming their is a factory code, and I need to get my VIN decoded at the dealer to find out what it is. I suspect he doesn't know what he's talking about, since no one else has ever found this option. I will get back to him this later this week and see if...

Paint codes and matching a 2005

I have searched. I have found the Colorite codes, and the Toyota codes. I gave both of these to my painter, who is very good and very meticulous. He says that neither match to his liking, and that the actual Yamaha paint is a "Tri-color paint with a colored clear." Apparently, I should know what...

    Steering Head Bearing Tool

I considered a socket when building mine, but everyone I looked at while holding the actual nut seem like it was going to be more work than what I ended up making. You would need a socket where the flats are the right thickness, and it would be harder to machine. Maybe if you had a mill, it...
