    Former XS1100 Owners?

Yup, it was a Nava. Very light and comfortable. I had this insulated apron thing that Velcro'ed to the bottom of the helmet and tucked into my jacket and worked really well during the SoCal winters.

Don't sell it! Before you know it you'll have spent the money, then your out the money AND the bike :(

    Former XS1100 Owners?

This was my '79 standard model which I bought brand new with 0 miles in '82. Commuted 50 miles a day for two year and weekends around SoCal foot hills. One of several bikes I wish I'd kept.

Heated Factory Yamaha grips and Throttlemeister

I have the factory heated grips and Throttlemeister installed with grip puppies as well. Only thing you need to be careful about is adjusting them to allow for the heat. They will bind up if the tolerance is too close when adjusted cold. As one of the treads above recommends do the adjustment...

How did you learn to ride?

When I was 12 (1961) my dad brought me to a small field by our house and put me on his 53 Matchless. He showed me how to work the throttle, clutch, and foot brake an pointed me in a reasonably safe direction and off I went. Only problem was I couldn't touch the ground and everytime I stopped...

    TBS - Lost vacuum cover

I've lost the cover and the clips down that black hole but was able to recover them with the help of a LED head light and a long thin screw driver with a bit of gum on the end... no kidding!

    New ECU

After the new ECU was installed on mine the lean mid-range was back and very noticable so I did the CO mods (+7) again. For me the new ECU works much better with the CO modification. BTW the problem with abrupt throttle response when rolling it on from a closed position (especially annoying in...

    Motorcycle Personality Test

Hmmm. It put me on an R1. They should have added "How stiff is your wrists, neck, and back?"

    2009 FJR1300 info released!

Totally agree about the Yamaha final drive. My Vmax has basically the same configuration. It's a 1992, has gone through much abuse, and even went about 20+K miles without even checking the gear oil. No problems at all.

2009 R1 might not be the prettiest looking bike, but

Digging through my magazines I found an article in Power Bike giving a run down on the inline 4 crank configurations. According to PB the design the new R1 uses was originally specific to the M1. It delivers a 'long bang' torque profile within a 720 degree cycle. The pulses come with the...

    Bag liners

I find them very handy for commuting. I always ride ATGATT so I keep a pair of street shoes, slacks, and shirt in one and a laptop in the other.

    Quick question... Handlebar * ?

OK, so I run to the garage and pop the left bar off and with a channel lock get the outside pin of in about a minute. Piece of cake, should have the whole thing done and back together in about 10 minutes. Right bar off, channel locks on, and nothing gives. Work on it for 30 minutes and...

    www.newenough.com

Indeed newenough is a great outfit. I have bought a touring jacket, leather pants (which I took advantage of their very good exchange poilcy), and gloves with very good results. Besides their great business approach the web site is very well designed making orders and exchanges very easy.

AE Adding a rear break on the left hand

Can this system bypass the front brake in a linked brake setup while retaining linked front and rear with the foot peddle? Could be a good deal for trail braking while still retaining the ability for linked brakes.

    2007 FJR AE owners

A lot of the folks here have pretty strong opinions one way or the other. I have only seen a couple of posts from people that bought an AE and didn't like it. I've had mine for two years and really like it. No problems so far. For most people it only takes a few short miles to get used to...

How was the windshield stability at cruising speed? Did it vibrate or rattle?

    Documentation for diagnostic mode

Thanks, I will definatly study that section. So looks like I will now have to confess. While setting the CO settings back to the modified values after a ECU upgrade I stumbled into a set of diagnostics that I was not familiar with. Fearing I might inadvertently change something I shouldn't...

    Cover-Up?

Just parked in the garage I throw an old bed sheet over it to keep the dust off which works pretty good... When parking outside overnight or in bad weather I use a Guardian... Works great and easy to put on. I got the extra large size which would also allow for top boxes. There's also...
