Unfortunately the forum search tool won't allow seaching on three characters (V47) and searching on "Givi V47" returned no results.

If you are using a V47 I would appreciate a PM to let me know how you like it. I like the angular looks of it - I think it complements the FJR very well.

Yeah Ive got one. I just got done using it about a week ago. although I don't use it very often, may be once or twice a year, it is nice to have when I need it. I like it ...

The V46 was very popular for the Gen 1. In 2005 Givi made a lid for the V46 that matched the Bass Boat Blue color of the bike. I have one of those V46's on my '05 and like it a lot. I also have the Givi rack made of steel tubing to mount it. I am very happy with it. For at least one year the E52 came color matched to the FJR as well, but I don't remember which year FJR.

The V47 looks similar to the V46 with more modern, edgy styling.

If I were shopping today I would take a serious look at the larger cases, like the E52 and E55. They don't really look much bigger when mounted on the back of the FJR, and they carry more stuff.

Thanks for the info. I assumed the larger cases would be quite a bit wider, but the E55 is only 1" wider than the V46. More space is definitely better!

I don't mean to threadjack but I kinda do. What's the max weight you'd want to safely put into a V46 without having to but the SR357? If it's just clothes and light stuff, is it really necessary?

Not to drag this O/T, but if you're going to the trouble (and $$$) of adding a GIVI case I'd say go for a little extra room! I removed my color matched Yamaha touring case and replaced it with an E52, no regrets whatsoever! There's more usable space in the GIVI than the Yamaha, not sure if the E47 would fit a full-face helmet with the lid closed based on its sloped design. Received quite a few positive comments on the 52, plus the Admore LED kit really lights up the back nicely! It looks good on my Feejer with side cases on/off.

However if space isn't the most important factor the E47 does look attractive. ;)

Edit: Also added the SR357 rack since as Auron mentioned above, all that extra space is a complete waste unless you have the ability to load it up to 20lbs. That adds up really quick BTW, trying to keep the loaded weight under the factory mounting point recommendation (what was it, like 8lbs?) is pretty much a joke.

Plenty of room down below in the saddlebags, which is where you want to carry your heavy things anyway. But I definintly see your point

My work laptop is gigundous and won't fit in the side cases unless I take it out of the laptop bag and store the bag and laptop in separate side cases. Not very efficient. I just bought a Bestem T-Box 929 - it was delivered about 30 minutes ago - and I must say I am pleased with its appearance to cost ratio, plus its dimensions show it should hold my laptop bag just fine.. I hope to install it this weekend and will pass along feedback for anyone interested.

BTW, the LED lights in the Bestem 929 are two wire. Does anyone know if using something like this will allow the lights to be hooked to the taillight and brake light and work appropriately?

It depends on if the lights are a two-element design, with high and low settings for tail/running and brake/turn functions. I'm positive you'll need at least 3 wires for both tail and brake functions from my experience with several LED kits, and turn signal operation is another couple wires. Without looking, I would assume your lights are either only running lights or more likely only brake lights. Best of luck with the case, looks like a great price!

Edit: Plus the Amazon site states: "Has a built-in LED tail light for extra safety for night riding"

So only tail/running light, no brake function. Although if you are a hack like me, I'd tap into the brake light 12V wire instead of tail light. I'd rather a driver knows I'm stopping than just know I exist. ;)

Had a Bestem T-Box on a V-Strom previously. Worked great with the factory rack.

For the FJR, I want a V47 as a nicer-looking option. No offense to anyone. Would like to use a top-box without sidecases on the FJR for commuting and day trips. It's a psychological benefit when carving corners too.

Now... DOES ANYONE HAVE PICTURES???? Let's get some hawtness in here!

So I installed the Bestem 929 and am very pleased so far. I connected the light to the brake and like the result. The case has a reflective strip around it, so I ordered a strip of LEDs that I am going to mount into the reflective strip to increase the visibility of the case brake lighting.

For mounting I used the SHAD mounting kit - I had to drill some holes in the SHAD mount to match the holes on the mounting plate for the case. I considered using a cotter pin or similar through the case and plate as insurance if the case were to come loose and want to fly off, but the case seems very secure. I know this case isn't nearly as nice looking as the OEM or Givi v47 cases, but I spent (<$140) a fraction less than I would have otherwise, and it included the passenger backrest and built-in lighting.

Let me know if you want to see photos of the Bestem case installed.

Got the SR-357 mount and the V47 top case. I agree completely with ElliottM about the looks. The V47 blends with the lines of the FJR better than any other TC I came across ( My humble opinion ) and was the main reason I chose it. If I every need a larger TC the SR-357 is ready to accept it.

ElliottM, Post up some pics of that Bestem box.
Maybe because I am a FNG, but I don't see the option to add photos. Here are links to the photos on Skydrive:https://sdrv.ms/106w71j

The photos were taken in the garage since it's night time, not the best environment for photos. Overall the box looks inexpensive, but not too bad - my only real dislike is I would like to hide the brake light wires better.

Pics are fine not too clear. In real what is the price of box?

It looks like this guy is hijacking the thread - notice the change in the text pointing to an external link. For those who are truly interested, the cost is just under $84 on Amazon, and that includes the brake light built into the case and the pillion "cushion" (plastic). You just need a mounting plate.
