Thanks for the post...we have one of the ones in question...have to check to see if it's part of the recall, this thing has gotta be 20 years old.

I don't know about consumer FE's, but the ones we have for our business have to be recharged/re-certed, or both, every few years. 5 years max.

 
Redneck firefighting technique: Throw the extinguisher into the fire. When the gases heat up, the extinguisher will explode, releasing the gases/powder that will put out the fire.

We don't need no stinking handles.

I don't know how old mine is, but pretty old. Still, the gauge is in the green (OK) zone and it doesn't even have a date code, so I'm figuring it's fine. But I did check the model no.--it's not on the CPSC.gov list. Good idea to be careful though.
