It also looks like several riders are headed down to Hillbilly Hot Dogs in Lasage,WV for lunch

Looks like the Mothman is one of the Boni in Point Pleasant WV.
Holy crap! I've been through there too many times to count and wasn't aware of this lil' nugget!

The Canadian tags I was able to find were a mosquito north of Winnipeg (and I think it was life-size), Sara the Camel, and a wild turkey.
I'm from that neck of the woods. A relative of mine made the statue.

Spotwalla showed a few in the vicinity of Duncannon, PA. There is a large purple dragon statue near there. Possible bonus location? Really hating being at work now that's only about 20-30 minutes from me.

I am having serious issues posting. Ignore any random quotes from me.

Moth man is frightening. Apparently one bonus is a dinosaur made out of a Volkswagen that is inside a library. Interesting

... part of a string...
Can someone clarify how strings work? I read that if you combine bonuses together as part of a string so you can get more points.

  • How many bonuses must you string together to start getting the increased points?
  • Is there a finite number of bonuses you can string together, or do the points keep doubling each time after a certain number?
  • Can any/all bonuses be strung, or are there specific spots that must be taken in a specific sequence to get the string?

Looks like some of those riders are heading down I-81. In Hagerstown MD, there's a giant crab on the roof of a restaurant, I wonder if that might be on the list?

Hi Scott!

From the Sunday Report -

"The bonuses are divided into five categories, with a twist in the puzzle. There are “strings”. If a rider can create a string by visiting 3 bonuses in a row from the same category, the third bonus value is multiplied by two. Multiple, separate strings are allowed."

Hope this helps.

danalipps, I think you are Erik Lipps's wife. If not, please forgive me. If so, I want to share these pics I took of your son in Albuquerque in 2015. His reaction absolutely made my day and made the ride I did to see the finish so worth it:

The one Toby took of Erik holding him a few minutes later was also a super cool shot. So cool.

Best wishes for a safe and successful ride for Erik this year.

and it foils the sophisticated routing programs that some riders use, unless they anticipated this twist (NOT). I'm fascinated with the rally game and all the ways these rally masters have taken to make a challenging route planning puzzle. I gota think a US highway map and a fist full of highlight markers would beat a 'puter at route planning this year's IBR.

Someone is tempting fate and having lunch at Taco Bell in Grand Island...oh how I hope they have a strong stomach...

Yep that's me! Thank you for sharing the photos. Jack was so excited to see his Daddy finish. Unfortunately we won't be able to make it to Minnesota. Jack is really bummed.

Will withhold photos and ID until after the rally, but just had an opportunity to meet one of our competitors during my lunch hour...was efficient getting in/out of the bonus and was feeling good under these sunny blue skies we have here today....

Someone just reeled in a giant crappie in Hornbeak, TN at the Kirby Pocket Day Use area...
