That worked, thanks for the pics. Did you feel like you really needed those cables, though? How much weight do you have in the box?

I second that question. Is he carrying a piece of lead in that box? Was the rear fender chattering with the wind and the increaed load?

The box holds the OEM tools, a set of stubby combo wrenches, a mini compressor, tire repair probes & sticky strings, all of the spare fuses & some bulbs for a total of 6 lbs. & there's room for a little more.

Last summer I followed Trinibob a few times at the CFO. His Pelican was almost empty & only had light items. The fender is very flexible and the bolts at the top, using the previous licence plate bracket holes, allowed the box to flop up & down severely.

The little cable sling holds the box up under tension & works very well. There is absolutely no bouncing whether full or empty.

I used a bracket under the rack bolts to accept cable eye loops. My intent was to prevent damage to the cable. I believe the cable ends could be wrapped around the luggage rack bolts in ferrule secured loops for a neater appearance.
