I am new to this forum, but after reading all the posts about the OEM subframe failures when using a top box, I wonder if anyone has a photo of the home made adapter plate for the Givi SR357, that Auburn FJR mentioned in his post?  I realize that was about 7 years ago, but it seems like a reasonable fix to a common problem.  I own a 2005 FJR and would like to do more two up time, with the factory top box on.  I do think a top box does detract somewhat from the sleek appeal of the bike, but I can live with that in exchange for the additional cargo storage.  Thank you.

Forum member Garauld makes and sells a "stiffy kit" which is designed to strengthen the subframe.  Have a look in his catalog for this item and much more.

The Givi SR357 is for Gen 2/3.  Gen 1 uses SR346 I think.
