Has anyone thought about doing this Bunker Tour?

Bunker Tours

Or, has anyone ever done it and is it worthwhile?

I know we are here to ride but it is close by, only takes 1.5 hours, and I have always been curious of big holes in the ground where my (and many others) money has been deposited.

Paging Mr. Meadows...

Along with this, what other local destinations (historical, parks, scenic stops, etc.) would you recommend for the "stop and smell the roses" crowd?

From last year:

New River Gorge

Highlands scenic drive

Snowshoe Mtn

Beartown state park

Thanks,

-wr

That might be interesting. Although not sure how the Greenbriar would react to a large group of heathenistic motorcycle riders.

And what I've heard, will they even let Fencer in?

Could be interesting. I keep saying that one day I'm going to go somewhere and see something besides asphalt.

Added to that list for this year is:

Cass Scenic Railroad - A link As previously mentioned, they do meal runs... as in lunch or dinner. You'd have to check the schedule for more info.

Durbin Railroad - A link

Both of these railroads are on one of the planned rides. I plan to at the very least, stop & check out Cass RR for the group that I lead.

Closeby and off the top of my head:

· Downtown Lewisburg Historic District including Carnegie Hall art exhibits and the North House Museum

· Greenbrier Valley Theater, Lewisburg

· Cranberry Glades Visitor Center and Botancial Area Boardwalk, Pocahontas County at the south end of the Highland Scenic Highway

· Babcock State Park – Grist Mill and Waterfalls, Fayette County on Rt 41 just south of Rt 60 on the way to New River Gorge

· Sandstone Falls Board Walk over National Scenic New River, Hinton, WV off Rt 20S

· Pipestem State Park Aerial Tram, Summers County on Rt 20 South

· Hawks Nest State Park Overlook and Aerial Tram, Fayette County on Rt 60 on the way to the New River Gorge

· White Sulphur Springs National Fish Hatchery, eastern Greenbrier County could easily fit into a trip to the bunker

Motorcycle heathens will not be a problem at the Greenbrier, because they will never let you past the main gate! They will however welcome you to a parking lot and allow you, for a fee and on their time schedule, board their shuttle bus to go tour the bunker. And yes, it is interesting and worth seeing.

Yeah, but what about Fencer?

Rumor has it that he is the closet artist so ...knowin' how he feels about you and all...you have been appointed his official escort: :tonguesmiley: :thumbsupsmileyanim:

I for one would like to see the GB Radio Telescope. I've driven near it, but not up to it. I plan on taking that in whilst in Lewisburg.

And suprisingly, no comment from Fencer yet......hmmm.....an admission of guilt perhaps?

Okay, I have a single Garmin GDB file with all the routes and all the scenic points as Favorites.

Will trade for food & SunDrop.

:)
