Alright My Fellow FODDERS, Seth and I are out the door and on our way North. Hope to make Tonopah or at least Beatty, NV tonight. We'll have our Apple MacBook Pro laptop with us, but uncertain if we'll get Wi-Fi at the hotel or at the Walker River Resort. If needed: Verizon Cell 480-440-4666

"Free Wi-Fi is available near the main building."

I only know this because my daughter has a ton of homework to do over the weekend.

Hycles and RogDeb have the cabin close to the main building. That might become the WiFi Hotspot if we get a good signal.

Bike is ready to go. We will meet RogDeb at Sweetie Pies for breakfast at 10am, Sweetie Pies is in Placerville, CA.

See you soon.

Mike

Ya'll have fun while I work 6x12 at the local nookie plant...
You Muricans are so creative - you have PLANTS for that in Kalifornication?

We'll miss you Don but rack up those billable hours and we'll see you at some rallies in 2011!

I've been researching the resort website for some fun things to see via the pickup. This is even going to be great for "cripples" like Rog and I.

And, Brad, excellent weather choice...unlike Rich who always plans our rides in the rain.... ;)
Roger and Mike, Don't forget you're fully welcome to ride in The Stanley Boys Jeep four wheel drive Liberty; got the big cleat mud/snow tires on "Mi Mexico Mule"! I'm not bringing up my DS for just 1 day.

There will be a Coleman cooler in the back and plenty of room for snacks; you two can tell Seth jokes and he can tell you jokes; while you ride along drinking beer on the dirt trails, with a "designated driver"!
Uhm...Don, the strongest thing I drink is unsweetened iced tea or Coke Zero. Oh yeah, O'Doul's Amber...what my daughter calls "Dad's beer flavored soda pop!"

Sethy Bear and DaddyDon are now at the Ramada Inn in Tonopah, NV; my boy is still sawing logs and Dad is heading downstairs to throw away more money in the Casino. Will arrive at Walker River Resort around Noon, see all of you fine folks real soon!

Received some sad words from RenoJohn he'll not be able to attend FODS, due to the passing of his IBA friend Donald Fitzgerald in SOCAL. Funeral is on Saturday and RJ will naturally be attending. GodSpeed Brother Fitzgerald, you were a fine M/C rider!

Hail, Hail; The Gang is all here! Weather is beautiful at Walker River Resort in Smith Valley (and Bust is Ugly!), 71 degrees high forecasted today and got down to 39F last night. The Jeeps and Pickups are going up the front side of the Sierra Nevada Mountain Range to the Historic Mining Town of Bodie. Bugnatr Doug and Son Joe are coming up the back way to Bodie from Hawthorne, NV on their true dirt bikes. Uberkul Brad has a 100 mile single track laid out for the big ride for the real dual sport guys and gals. More drinking tonight!!!

Thanks Don, but your post is worthless without Pics!!!! I know Brad will take plenty and all will be Ansel Adams quality. I'm extremely bummed I can't make this one, enjoy every bit, even the hang over tomorrow morning!

Well I hope you guys had fun in Bodie and the like. Saturday morning Joe and I were riding through Aurora ghost mining town on the way into Bodie when he picked up a 100+ year old square nail in his rear tire. Son of a beach we are 40 miles in the desert at 8,000 feet, not good. Time for an on the trail tube patch repair (note-buy fresh tube repair kit, the glue will go bad even unopened :angry2: ) I have been packing a small air comp that I wired to plug into the battery tender plug and with several stops to air the leaking tube were able to nurse the bike back 20 miles to Lucky Boy pass road. At this point the Pirelli MT21 was toast but we had made it to a decent gravel road where I went to town and brought back the trailer to fetch my son and bike. That put a kabosh on our weekend of riding in perfect weather but we made it out of the back country so it was a good day.

Joe and I really enjoyed our visit with the Fodsters on our way over Friday. We did go to the local High school football game Friday night in Hawthorne. Hell of a game, the Virginia City Muckers beat the Hawthorne Serpents 56 to 50 in overtime!

Looking forward to ride reports and pictures, Bug.

Sorry to hear about Donald Fitzgerald.

The other activities sound like a great time was/will be had by all!

Sons o' beaches!

(Man, y'all hit the PERFECT weather! Wish I'd a DS. :angry2: )
You didn't need a dual sport to attend. I brought the pickup and didn't ride because of my ankle.

Don't go blaming us for your decisions! beemerdons' roomies (RenoJohn & SPU) were "no-shows" so there was room for at least one leprechaun! :p

I've loaded some of my photos to phtobucket and will be posting a report post haste.

Home safely, after a wonderful weekend. Pictures will be posted but we need some rest first. Super drive home. With one stop, it would have been a mere nine hours but for the freeway mess going through LA. Who would have thought that all lanes would be at a standstill at 9pm?

Thanks to Brad and co for organizing a great event. I hear that MadMike will be out of the hospital soon, recovered from injuries sustained after something he said. I'm wondering if the ankle injury was acquired in a similar manner?

FODS IV - more toys, more friends, more fun!!!!!!!

Rolled in about 4:30 PM. Clear sailing over 88.

Sacramento was like a ghost town, no traffic at all.

Aside from the fact the KLR is a big fat pig it ran flawlessly and used no oil the whole weekend.

Thanks Brad for planning the Event. Rumor has it that Fods V will be moving back to Washington (The Town)

We got home last night - a long day's drive from Vancouver Washington with stops at Dauntless in Enumclaw and Gerbings in Tumwater. No snow over the passes, but it wasn't very far above us!

Thanks again for a fun weekend Brad! We got to see FJRay and Patti on the way south and we spent a night with Steve and

Cindy on the way back home. FJR folks are the best!
