I just purchased Wilbers 640 model. I hope to get it in 4 weeks.

I'll be using this document during the installation; I was hoping to get one that is for the ABS model.

I actually installed the same shock on my 07(it was set up for the first gen bike) and the only mod I had to do to it was drill a another hole for the preload adjuster bracket. I didn't even have to move preload line I just ran it in the path of least resistance.

Why did you have to drill another hole and does the side case fit without issues with the preloader installed.

Because we were both fitting a shock bracket set up for an inferior Gen 1 onto a superior Gen 2 bike ! :p

Yes, it's a tight fit witrh the case on but it works.

So, you installed a GEN 1 Wilbers shock on Gen II bike?

I'm assuming that since I got a Wilbers shock for Gen II, and I'm installing it on Gen II, I wont have to drill anything.

My 640 model will not come with the extra reservoir, just the preloader.

Yes, I did look at your link/images.

I hope that my install is a simple "plug and play".

Yes my Wilbers shock was set up for the Gen 1 FJR. So the spring preload adjuster bracket holes were not space properly for the Gen 2 bike. It was no biggy. But I would think if you are ordering one for a Gen 2 bike the bracket should have the correct hole distance. I bought my shock of ebay and the guy had bought it on this forum's group buy and never installed it on his bike. It even came with the front forks springs and it was set up for a person around the same weight as myself.
