So I am changing the oil on my FJR today with the good stuff(Mobil 1 Full Synthetic, 5 Qts) that I bought at Walmart. As I refill, I go to dump qt #4 in and as I begin to pour into the funnel, I realize it's old, black used oil! I crack the #5 to find it too contains old used/returned oil. I am pissed, as this shit is $10/Qt. I call customer service and she tells me to bring them in for exchange. I drive all the way to Eagle Point(Medford store doesnt carry the Mobil1 is use), go in grab 2 Qts of new oil and head for the CS desk. The line is 15 customers deep with a worthless moron(the kindest words I could muster up) running the show solo. I figured I could just walk up and explain and walk out with the new oil. NO. "There is a transaction to process and I will have to wait at the end of the line." Ya, I walked right out the door with new oil in hand and chucked the old oil in the garbage on the way out. They wasted enough of my time. KISS MY ASS WALMART! :fuk:

Walmart's customer no-service is beyond abysmal. Whenever I shop there (seldom), I never buy anything that I think I will remotely have to return because of wrong size, etc. Their lack of service is obviously meant to discourage returns, but it sure has to hurt sales too. Obviously someone bought new synthetic oil, took it home and did a switcheroo and returned it for a refund. At least they didn't switch it out for new non-synthetic because you never would have known then. Kind of scarey.

Good thing it wasn't me. I think I would have made a big scene, made them bring over the store manager and dumped a quart out right on the floor in front of him.

I would have called Mobil !!

That's pretty serious deal putting used oil in a new container and it making it to the store shelf.

+1 on contacting Mobil. Ya might even get a complimentary free quart or two from them.

I'm wondering why you didn't happen to notice that the cap wasn't sealed when ya took it off. I put half used quarts back in my cabinet all the time, and am often reminded that I'm not dealing with a full container when I go to open them later on... the cap's too easy to take off. So, concerning new oil, that locking cap is so you KNOW that it hasn't been tampered with. Don't know about you, but every mistake I make helps me become a little wiser next time. Bet you'll never buy a quart of anything again without looking carefully at the cap????

At least you were sharp enough to notice it. Wonder how many guys have done the same thing without even noticing?

Here's a thought. It could be worse. You could be the poor slug working the Walmart customer service desk, doing your best to catch up during rush hour.

Good for you. I've made a scene or two at some of the local retails stores myself, Walmart being one of them.

I really hate when you get fed this BS about how the Customer comes first when their actions make it perfectly clear the Bottom Line comes first! Get another damn clerk in there ya morons!! sheeeesus.

! Buyer beware not only for oil at Walmart but anything that is boxed or packaged if you buy there. People sometimes don't want the hassle of coming back so they just take the item out of the box or package and put it back on the shelf! Try and explain that one when you have to come back for a refund with an empty box. What's the world coming to? L.O.L. PM.

They should remove the "Wal" out of Walmart. I think Sam Walton would be appalled at the service in the stores.

To be fair, the only complaint you have about Wal-mart is that they didn't put enough people in the Customer Service department. They were perfectly willing to exchange the item, in fact, I bet their willingness to exchange items is how that old oil got back on the shelves again. I don't know if there's a way Wal-mart can check the seal on the bottles without breaking them.

We got a George Foreman grill from Target for our wedding ... pre-greased! Now THAT's an easy one to catch before they put it back on the shelf. Easy to return too though ...

The jerks here aren't Wal-Mart or Target, but those who return obviously used items, cheating the stores.

I'm not understanding how used oil came out of a sealed container?

Or was it not sealed?
and that's the 64 thousand dollar question right there.

If it was sealed, then it came from the mfg that way right? Walmart (or anyone else) does not have the ability to "re seal" these do they? As far as I know only the mfg can do that.

So it's possible when they were returned a mistake was made and instead of going back to the mfg they were put back on the shelf. That's big time on Walmart, their clerks aren't paying attention.

But I agree, no matters how the above happened, their customer service is seriously under manned. That should be made illegal. It really should, for all stores. Don't just man it for the sale, man it for the return too.

That sounds like something an Ayn Rand antagonist would propose.

Better to spend your dollars at businesses which have the customer service you expect to pay for. Then Walmart will get the idea ... and improve or perish.

Two Qts. were not sealed, just very tight. The first 3 I opened were sealed. I just twisted off the cap on the forth bottle and proceeded. Didnt click that the safety ring was compromised. I will be looking closer from now on, when I pull it off the shelf. It just seems to me that a good portion of Walmart shoppers are inbred/losers who pull shit like this. I believe the returns should have been inspected better before returning to the shelf. Pretty sad when you have to take extra precautions to make sure you dont get ripped off at a retailer. Not likely for this to happen at other stores as Walmart is "special".

And what if they "all do it?" What if you have to drive an extra 25 miles so you can "better to spend your dollars?" what then?

I buy my Mobil-1 at Wally also but I buy it in the 1.25 gal (5qt) jug. I find it cheaper than buying the single quarts. Never had a tainted jug but I do find varying prices on this jug at different Wally's (strange cuz you would think their POS should retrieve all from the same common DB but it doesn't and it is store/region/market specific).

Oh Wally where out tho.

:agree: :good:

I sympathise with your situation, but stealing from the store posed a potentially serious risk to your reputation and wallet if a store dick had seen you - not willing to wait in line is not a valid defense.

Seems you just have people that "don't care" working at wal-mart.

And from what I've seen, they are not alone.

Add to the list of folks that don't care our OP here who didnt care about our enviromrnt when he tossed the old oil in a trash can.

People it seems find their lives more important than spending their time thinking about others...or just thinking in general. These are the same folks that roll their eyes when they find the checkout lines crowded and see that old lady writing a check ahead of them...

If I felt wronged or cheated I'd have no problem waiting in line to express my displeasure. If need be, I could always come back when it was less crowded.

Wal-marts "no question" return policy makes them stand out in the industry... It's just sad when folks take advantage of it. They are the ones I blame for this.

I dont consider that stealing. I paid for the oil. They stole from me, intentional or not. They also wasted my time and gas. The store "dick" would have wore the oil. How to recycle it then?
