2016 Is Official 6-spd, Slipper, LEDs, Analog Tach, Price

Picked up my 2016 ES this afternoon. Feels very different than my '08. Clutch is much lighter and engages much further out. BIG difference in gearbox feel. Smooth, not clunky. If it feels this good brand new it should really something once it breaks in. New instruments will take some...

Congrats Adam. I wonder when they'll be making their way to the east coast.

    Newbie 2015 vs 2016

I'm 5' 5" with a 29" inseam. You won't have any problems. I have just under 40,000 mile on my '08 and have toured around the country and into Canada. I had 15,000 on my '05 when I sold it and am looking forward to my'16. Good luck!

2016 Is Official 6-spd, Slipper, LEDs, Analog Tach, Price

I've had a standing order with my dealer for an ES when they became available. The dealer called me today saying ordering was open as of today. The Yamaha rep told me dealer delivery should be the 2nd week in March. We'll see....

    Three Bond 1514 - WTF

Having just done the valve check on my 26k mile '08, I found that using high tac on the gasket to cover and ultrablack silicone on the gasket to head is the way to go. As mentioned previously, make sure any silicone or adhesive is oxygen sensor safe. A tip not mentioned is that when doing a...

any 08' issues? Seriously looking at a used one to buy

Having owned an '05 and an '08, I would take the '08 over the '05. My '05 was a cooker in the summer, and therefore unpleasant to ride even with all the heat fixes installed. With the harness recall or the harnesses sold on this forum, "flaming electrical contraptions" is nothing more than the...

    BMW on Li Battery

Lithium ion or lithium iron? The Shorai batteries are lithium iron IIRC. Would that make a difference to BMW?

    Changing the dog bones

My recollection is the same. I would not put any loads on that rear sub-frame.

    Has anyone lowered their FJR?

After posting I saw that you asked about removal of the seat adjustment plastic piece. I removed mine to help in the lowering process as well. I've sat on bikes with scooped out or lowered heights but never liked them either because a) I felt like I was sitting in a hole, or b)not enough...

    Has anyone lowered their FJR?

I have a 2008 FJR with a Kouba link and the forks moved up a bit in the triple clamps. I had a 2005 FJR which I never lowered. Funny how that bike seemed lower than the '08 did stock. I lowered the '08 because when I tour with the topcase the bike is more prone to tipping and I have often...

The best man I ever knew, gone in his prime

I'm sorry for the loss of your friend. Hopefully when his son is of age he will hear from you the kind of man his father was.

    Do I change them out?

Replace them both with PIAA Extreme Whites 80/100 watts worth of whiter light with the current consumption of a 55/60.

    Normal Wear?

Check out the classified section for a great 2006 in your price range. If you willing to come to to the New York state/Connecticut border that is.

    Cycleport Dye Job

In fairness to Cycleport they do tell you when you buy the gear that Kevlar is very UV sensitive and should be periodically treated with a UV protector. I have Cycleport gear and treat it one to two times a year and it has exhibited no signs of fading in the years that I have owned it. I think...

Gen II Grounding Harness Recall Poll

I'm with you. The Brodie harness is a superior solution to the problem and I'm leaving it in.

    Frog Toggs Suck

I have done 400 mile days in pouring rain with Frog Toggs and they have kept me dry all the time. I'm on my second set having worn out the first ones and still prefer their breathability and compact storage size to conventional rain gear.

    Protect your banana

Don't knock it until you've tried it! I like to carry a banana for a snack and it does protect it. Let the Friday jokes begin (sigh).

    Motoport Air Kevlar Pant Question

Gunny as to everything Mike said, but fortunately I haven't road tested it on a get-off. I find they flow a lot of air and are as cool as any armored riding gear can be while in motion and there is air flow. The fabric weave looks tight, but flows a lot of air. Definitely worth the money. Do...

    Still the vibration issue

I have owned two FJRs and when the throttle bodies are properly synched I found them to be as smooth as in-line fours can be. For those who find the vibes objectionable (which is very subjective) th Heli triple clamp helps as well as the Vibranator bar end replacement work. The Vibranators I...
