Hi guys

I've successfully removed the rear brake caliper to clean up the piston and although no brake pad change is required yet I could not figure out how to remove the pads. I expected them to fall out like the front ones but they won't budge. There is a fjrtech.com article on the front brake pad change but not the rear. I seen the sketches in the service manual but they don't help either

So my questions are:

1. in what plane are they removed (ie horizontal or vertical) - ignore the complication of the caliper being at an angle.

2. how are they removed?

Incidentally, for those of you yet to clean the rear piston, unlike the front the piston cannot be pushed in manually - I had to use a G clamp

I look forward to the answer re removing the rear brake pads

Thanks in advance

Remove the two retaining bolts and pull the caliper.

Your pads should now be exposed.

The pads (with the shims) should now slide out horizontally.

Pull the BP springs.

Reverse the procedure to reinstall, torque bolts to 26nm or 19 ft-lb.

I finally got to the bottom of the problem why I could not remove my pads - uk weather had caused corrosion between caliper and metal springs holding the pads, which had the effect of tightening the pads in place

Cleaned up and greased and the're ready to go
