It's that time for the valves to get checked and hopefully not adjusted. I've got about 25k on it right now. Anybody know of a good mechanic in the So. Cal. area? I live in Palmdale and work in Redondo Beach.

 Dude I used to commute from Northridge to Long Beach (in a car) and I can't even conceive of your commute.

In any case, if you find one let me know I will be ready for mine in a few months.

I took mine to a place called High Octane in Thousand Oaks. They did a good job and didn't keep my bike for a week like the dealers tend to do!

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll definitely be looking one of these shops up. For some reason I just don't have confidence in the dealers.

YOC - Yamaha of Cucamonga or however it is spelled has an *EXCELENT* reputation as reported by many forum members. Not sure where it is in relation to you, but worth checking out.

There's a pretty good chance that this guy knows his stuff:

From the intraweb --

"Three Yamaha dealership technicians have made it to the top at the Yamaha United States Technician Grand Prix.

The top techs in the two-day, hands-on technical skills challenge...third place, Tom Blackwell of LeBard & Underwood Inc., La Habra, Calif.

They were among 10 contestants from across the country who took part in the challenge in June at Yamaha's Southeastern headquarters in Kennesaw, Ga."

I go to LeBard & Underwood all the time and they have an excellent service dept. Its kind of far for the OP, hence the recommendation for L&L
