Are you tired of hiding it in your tank bag or putting in your side case when you are momentarily away from your motocycle?

The radar detector can not be removed without a Torx security tool which is provided with the unit.

Mount the base plate on a Ram mount or on my N/Line FJR dash. Velcro dots hold it from moving around, then the cover secures down with 4 Torx screws with a center pin. A tab is formed up from the base to keep it from being pulled out from the front.

A sealed polycarbonate front panel keeps moisture and bugs away.

Pretty slick!

This is not a waterproof enclosure but I'm sure it will protect it for most of your wet trips.

From the pictures. it looks like the front is the part that faces forward when mounted. The back is open so you can get to the controls.

Oh, THAAAAT front... I see it now that I scroll the window over to the right...

I was thinking a little clear plastic piece that went across the front, maybe hinged on the bottom of the enclosure so you could flip it down to adjust the controls.... then snap it back up when done.

No, it is open in the front but has a 3/4" roof over it for shade and drops of water. Security and sun are the main factors. I've riden all day in the rain wthout anything protecting my V1. Tucked behind the windshield on my dash it stays pretty cozy and dry. It's when it's sitting in a parking lot it can be a problem.

Maybe i should have cordura covers sewn up to protect the unit in a down pour or when washing the bike, although a plastic bag works too

One of the small elasticized bowl covers you can buy at the grocery store works like a charm... Kept my V1 nice and dry over the weekend trhough some torrential rain. Would probably work with your enclosure as well. My only other concern is I'd need another metal plate (or pry the one off my V1 that's on there now) to interface to my magnetic power plate...

Thats a great idea. Hinged plastic front that is spring loaded with an o-ring type of seal that will keep the rain out.

On the escort, I use the coiled smart cord plugged into a switched socket mounted in the panel directly below the glove box. It has a mute button on it so I don't really have to touch the face of the detector itself. Using it this way a sealed box would work but this box is certainly nicer than the vac-u-form clear plastic box sold by legal speeding.

Judging by the photo of the V-1 case that you designed, it looks as if the power cord for the X-50 might enter in approximately the same position.

It's a beautiful pc of work just like the dash.

I just paid 35.00 for Skyway's aluminum plate to mount a Littlite.

I think the cost is cheap insurance.

It's not too expensive Scott, some people just don't fully understand whats involved in manufacturing. It is disheartening when I read this kind of comment.

Folks, it takes a lot of time and energy to create the CAD design, prototypes, bill of materials, ordering raw material, setting up machines, quality check first off, package and ship for any second op, final inspection. All for what may seem something so simple. All this has to occur before your neatly packaged farkle arrives at your doorstep. If making products was easy, everyone would be doing it. Also keep in mind the volume of sales involved here as well.

You think this stuff flies out of a microwave? He's not making burritos here.

That is exactly why I bought your "littlelite" plate. I have the capabiltity to laser cut the light plate here at my facility but why would I what to do all the design, and prototyping, etc all over again. That's what I paid you for.

Still waiting for my lite to be shipped. (I'm doing the end mount with 18" neck)

You can have Cateye's box which seems to be reasonably priced or you can have something like the following for $25.00 before shipping.....I think I would go for Cateye's personally. This thing reminds of something that used to pop out of the Mattel Vac-U-Form I used to play with as a kid before someone decided that children and molten plastic were not necessarily a good idea. I remember one of our forum members (who shall go unmentioned but rides an AE) bought one of these and then paid $75.00 for overnight shipping. Now thats a bargain my friends.

Someone "smarter" than me will need to answer this question, but I don't think the front of the case needs to be clear to receive the radar signal... so I was thinking about mounting a radar detector in something like this:

FWIW... this case is made out of plastic, not metal. I know a metal case would not work, but I think a plastic case might.

At least for a Valentine, you wouldn't want to cover up (so that you couldn't see it) the front of the unit, since then you wouldn't get the benefit of the information provided by the directional arrows, or the bogey counter.
