The loading of your bike was just like herding cats but somehow 25 guys were able to get r done! Good to know you are home ok, heal fast my friend. +1, Gunny!
During the tie down process (of the bike), I heard the term "It's like five monkeys f*cking a football...

HYCLE to Tyler: "Hey Babe, hold my beer while I ride Nightshine's FJR into the back of that van!"

Ty to Mike: "You don't have a hair on your ass, unless you wheelie Sam's FJR into that U-Haul"!

From David "Dashbaw" Ashbaugh, AZ Beemers Member from Campbell River, British Columbia, Canada. I still don't know why we allow Canucks into our BMW Club eh!

I am a little late with this post, however, better late than never. Thanks to FJR group and Beemerdons for the invite to Sparks FJR Western Roundup. Had a great time.

Left home on Tuesday, July 7th, and spent the night at my daughter’s place in Victoria BC. The next morning I caught the Black Ball Ferry, to Port Angeles, WA, and rode down the coast, stopping in Astoria. Next day I continued down the coast and cut inland through Roseburg and then down to Medford to drop off a part at Hanson’s BMW. The next day it was on to Sparks for an evening of cheap beer in the casino.

On Friday, July 11th, I joined a group to ride across the Monitor Pass, hwy 89, and Ebbett’s Pass on hwy 4. On the way we stopped in a small town and had breakfast with Don and Seth. After crossing Ebbett’s Pass we stopped for lunch and then cut over to Sonora and came back to Sparks through the Sonora Pass on hwy #108. Things then got repetitive as we ended up in the Casino again drinking beer.

The next day two of the passes were closed due to a bicycle race. Now according to a knowledgeable source within the AZ Beemers, some dumb ass fireman was responsible, WTF? So, the next morning Gordie T. and I decided to ride over some twisty roads back to the coast where it is cool. We went north through Susanville, cut through the Lassen Forrest to Redding, (hot as sh*t, maybe hotter), and then across hwy 299 for about 140 miles of twisty road. Near the coast, as we crested a ridge, the temperature finally dropped from 100 degrees down to around 80 degrees in about ten feet. Finally we had hit the Pacific system.

We rode up the coast to Coos Bay for the night had a few…….. drinks ……. and started to realize we may have a problem. Anyway, after a couple we sort of forgot about it. The next day we rode together up past Lincoln City, where Gordie cut off to Portland and I headed up to Astoria for the night. North of Lincoln City I ran into rain and while there was little traffic, there were numerous groups of cruiser type motorcycles chugging alone at half the speed limit. So many bikes to pass, so little time. The next day I caught the 12:45 ferry and arrived home around 4:30 PM. Total trip about 2600 miles.

I carried my wife’s camera on this trip and other than forgetting to use it, the photos I did take, are not in focus. Only two photos, taken on the Sonora Pass during a stop, are in focus. I know, what a loser!

The first photo shows Gordie T. calling a meeting. Something about it being disrespectful for little bikes to pass big bikes. You will notice that my little twin is at the rear of the pack unable to keep up with anything.

In the second photo, Gordie T. is drawing stick figures on his motorcycle seat illustrating the various signals used before passing, slowing or stopping, as well as, those used to indicate a bathroom break, advising how to inform a rider whether you think his mother was married or not, and the true meaning of the middle ADV (adventure) finger.

Thanks to beemerdons for organizing this event. My wife and I enjoyed ourselves and met some very nice folks. It was good to meet everyone!

Stay away from the ticks!
Frickin' Mountain Goats and Forest Rats are crazy. Monday eve I tried to take a "shortcut" and ended up at about 8500 feet when FIVE bucks crossed the road in front of me. Not dangerously close though, I got some pics. Earlier in the a day a herd of goats crossed in front of the car ahead of me.
