We had a nice ride today, but it was warm. 525 miles for pants, maybe 575 for the redfish. We are holed up in central Texas now. - decent meal but no beer. We made due with a couple of snorts of fire water. Hopefully better choices tomorrow night. Truthfully, I'm dehydrated and a tall glass of water is a better choice.
The old man is tough as nails, I tell ya. I followed him for 300 miles this afternoon and he's tough as nails.

More west tomorrow. I'm having fun.

Well - we had a winderful ride yesterday through west Texas and into central New Mexico. The temp got up to 100 degrees in the afternoon, but by 3 pm as we crossed the state line, the altimeter was going up and the thermometer was going down.
Stopped in Carrizozo and got a very inexpensive but spotlessly clean room.
We're over 1000 miles in over two days now. Today should be more sightseeing and less riding.
Life is good. Stay thirsty, my friends.

Miss Tyler, I'm dropping in Mariposa for Breakfast on Friday and will be happy to lead a small group on a local twisty tour for the morning. It'll take about 3 or so hours, ending up at a great little restaurant (Old Priest Station that has awesome burgers) for lunch. I have commitments later on in the day and have to bug out after lunch, but can point forum members to some more fun stuff, unless they're ready to head back to the hotel pool....

Bad news for me, possibly a room for someone on the forum. I've had to cancel our trip to the gathering because my back has packed up and I can barely walk, even using a cane. This has been a recurring problem so time for drastic action. It flared up again in Sedona so the trip back was tough. I'm okay while on the bike but not otherwise.
Sorry to miss seeing the group, especially Pops who sounds like one impressive gentleman. I've cancelled the room (king bed) so if someone is quick, you may get it.

I, due to lack of popular demand, am back in!
A late scheduled business trip to Singapore has been canceled so I can now make it. I'll be showing up Thursday evening - happen to have some old friends who live in nearby Boot Jack so accommodations are handled. I didn't end up buying into dinner since I thought I was out, so will probably hang around looking for table scraps

Arrived at Delano, CA today. 3215 miles done and only 125 miles to Mariposa so tomorrow will be a play day. See you all Thursday!!

The redfishes and I are having a friggin blast. Today we crossed the southern tip of Nevada and into the southern dessert of California. We saw Joshua trees for the first time today - fascinating plant. We rode through the Mohave national preserve and the train depot in kelso was like an oasis. Then through the granite mountains this afternoon in 102 degree heat before turning north and stopping in ridgecrest for the night. Good sirloin steaks this evening with a cold local lager.
Tomorrow we head northward toward the big trees. 2300 miles so far and the bikes are ROCK solid. Pops is doing fantastic. Shit - he's in better shape than andrew and I.
Hoping for cooler temps tomorrow. Life is great. Looking forward to seeing everyone in a couple of days.

Don't know your plans but we came through there. We went 178 to lake Isabella and then 155 West. 155 is awesome - just watch for some gravel/sand on corners where they have cleaned out the side ditches. In any event, looking forward to meeting you guys at Mariposa. Glen
The wife and I are hitting the road in the morning with an easy 1st day planned. We'll be in Kernville Wed night at a motel right next door to Kernville Brewing. Mmmm, beer. Then on Thurs we'll head through Sequoia N.P. on the way to Mariposa.
This is my 1st FJR gathering after 6 years of FJR ownership. It'll be interesting to put faces to forum names. I'm the FNG hoping to not embarrass myself! I'll do my best to keep up.

Don't worry... it's usually the old-timers that are busy making asses out of themselves... just sit back and watch. :lol:
I'll need a couple of volunteers to help set up tables/chairs for the dinner around 5:30pm on Saturday and break them down after the festivities. If anyone can lend a hand, please be back at the Lodge by 5:30pm... thanks! B)
