    05 fork seal replacement

This the fastest way to do it. Biggest challenge is finding a good sturdy arrangement to jack the fork leg against. I used my floor standing drill press and jacked the fork leg between the base and the adjustable drill table. Removed the dust seal and the circlip. Filled the leg with atf and put...

    Fork Oil Change Procedure

I just removed the caps from both forks and measured the oil levels with the forks fully compressed. (Left the front wheel on but had to remove the bars to gain req'd clearance for the cartridges to rise). Both had 23 oz added the night before. The LH fork that was not disassembled (only hung...

    Fork Oil Change Procedure

One fork was fully disassembled including removal of the cartridge damper assembly in order to replace a failed seal. It was then reassembled and filled with 23oz of oil. The other fork was not disassembled and was simply drained by removing the cap and inverting the fork to drain for a few...

    Botched 06A Ignition Switch Recall

I'm not looking for revenge. The dealer I went to now knows exactly how to do the recall. So they're probably one of the safer choices out there. In the end they fixed it. The down side is I still have my old ECU which has had shock therapy it didn't need. And my bike came apart way beyond what...

    Botched 06A Ignition Switch Recall

Fuel/Ign/Interlock relay was toast. Today Yamaha advised it can be replaced by simply reaching down into the fairing below the gauges where it is located behind the left headlight. Would have been nice if Yamaha told us that on Monday before the fairing was disassembled. Because of thier...

    Botched 06A Ignition Switch Recall

Stopped at the dearler again this morning. No techs working on Wednesdays, so it sat all day. It's 62 degrees here...riding weather. I studied the wiring diagram. Looks to me like when he cut the pigtail, he sent 12 volts to the fuel, engine cut "relay" directly thru the relay diode and then...

    Botched 06A Ignition Switch Recall

Went in this morning and spoke directly to the owner. He was genuinely interested in making sure I was satisfied with the eventual outcome. Said he had an 07 AE on the floor and if need be he'd open it up to get the parts required to get mine back up and running. It's tough to watch the bike...

    Botched 06A Ignition Switch Recall

Need some help here. The dealer tech decided to cut the pigtail on the original switch in order to make it easier to remove. Don't ask me how this would have helped, but he did it anyway. It was cut while the switch was still connected up to the main harness and the battery was still in the...

    Genmar Rises .

The mounting surface on the 06 upper triple tree for the bars and risers is perfectly level. On the 05 the mounting surface is angled. On the 06 it is not. GEN-MAR risers do not move the bars back at all on the 06.

Ever Forget to Turn Off Your Signals? Simple beeper mod.

Why Yamaha didn't give the FJR self cancelling signals for the US market is beyond me. Oh yeah. It's because we're not supposed to have the bike in the first place. It's a european design. They must not use their turn signals... Any way. If you want a simple audible reminder to turn them off...
