Are the Gen I and Gen II FJR rear calipers compatible? A noticeable difference is the location of the bleed screw as shown below, but are there any reasons why they would not be interchangeable?

I've got 3 gen 1 FJRS and the rear caliper on all three are the same as the one shown in the gen 11 line drawing.
Well okay, I was under the impression that I had a Gen II rear caliper on my Gen I based on the diagrams which I pulled from the Service Manuals. However, since you guys also have the caliper from the Gen II manual diagram, I guess it is a non-issue. :) It is strange though.

There might be an appearance difference between some model years, but there's no fitment difference on the rear caliper on any FJR. They are completely interchangeable.

Personally, I think any differences (the drawings show the bleed screw in a different place) are supplier differences. Comparing the current fiche on Yamaha's site, the drawing is identical for 2003 and 2012. The part numbers for a complete caliper assembly are different, but the pistone, seals, and even the bleed screw have the same part number.

The 1D7 piston number is listed for my 2003, as a replacement number superceding the other one. Go to Yamaha's parts bin, not a dealer's.
