ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT YAMAHA TRUNKS AND ACCESSORIES

Alright, here's the skinny. Take a look and see what you think.

'06 Cobalt Blue Trunk. Part # 5JW-W0754-60-00 Group buy price: $525.00

’06 Rear Trunk Attachment Kit Part # ABA-2D261-30-00 Group buy price: $96.00

’03-’06 Back Rest Part # 5JW-W0772-00-00 Group buy price: $90.00

’04 & 06’ Cerulean Silver Trunk Part # 5JW-W0754-36-00 Group buy price: $396.00

’05 Galaxy Blue Trunk Part # 5JW-W0754-35-00 Group buy price: $396.00

’03 Silver Metallic Trunk Part # 5JW-W0754-00-00 Group buy price: $396.00

’03-’05 Trunk Attachment Kit Part # 5JW-W0720-00-00 Group buy price: $60.00

There needs to be FIVE trunks sold in this deal for it to happen. Doesn't matter the year. It doesn't have to include the mounting kit, although I don't suspect that there are many people with a kit laying around but no case. YES, the same case that was offered for the '04 (Cerulean Silver) is what now goes on the '06AE (also Cerulean Silver). Why is the '06 Cobalt trunk so much more....my guess is that it cost Yamaha more money to have new cases made in the new color then what it was costing when the other colors were made. If you want to get in on this, you have until Mid night on July 5th to PM me with your order. Your order needs to include the part numbers of the items you want, your personal information (name, phone #, shipping address...) and your Credit Card information. If you would like to pay by check, let me know and we'll get that worked out, but it needs to be done before the July 5th deadline. IF YOU COMMIT TO THIS, THE CASE IS YOURS. AT THESE PRICES, ONCE THE ITEMS ARE ORDERED IF YOU CHANGE YOUR MIND....SELL IT ON EBAY, I CAN'T TAKE IT BACK. Shipping charges are not included in the price of the items, that is an additional cost. I will be shipping via UPS and will let you decide if it is insured or not. Its your money and your trunk, I'll do what ever you want. If it should turn out that I receive some parts before others (back order situation) I will ship in the order that I received the actual orders if at all possible.

Any questions, let me know. I can be emailed at [email protected] or PM me.

Tell me what you think!

Its really quiet in here.

Offer has been up for about a week. What do you guys think about it? Prices to high, scratching your heads wondering wear Metric PowerSports came from, just not sure if the trunk is all that.......? I'd like to hear from you guys.

Is this the Yamaha trunk, or aftermarket? I have a quote from my dealer for Yamaha, $522 including trunk, mount, and backrest...

They are all OEM Yamaha trunks. I sell OEM parts for all the manufactures I deal with, right from the same warehouse as your local dealer. You are the second person to tell me that a dealer is willing to sell them for less. Although I don't disbelieve that, I do think that the dealers aren't paying attention to what they are looking up. Either that, or they are taking a hit on the accessories if you buy them with the bike as a sales tactic. If you look at the list I made, the Cobalt Blue trunk (which is for the '06) is the only one that is over $396. This silver trunk for the '06 AE's is even $396, thats because it is the same exact trunk that fits the '04. The list price on the '06 Blue trunk is $589.95! (as opposed to the list price of $482 for the rest of the trunks) And I assume that is all because they had to make a bunch of new cases in the new color and the cost of having them made went up, thats all I can come up with. So I think that they(your dealer) are looking at the '05 part number and price thinking it is the same when it isn't. If I am wrong, then hell yes, grab the deal why you can. Hold them to their word. Make them give it to you for what they quoted, I sure won't hold it against you. But if I'm right, you'll be the only one that gets if for that price or they will back out of the deal when they figure it out. I would double check with them for sure. Take the part number for the blue '05 case and the blue '06 case and compare to what they are looking up. I know that at least a couple of the local shops here in KC are getting the full $589 for the new blue cases.

Thanks for the question K-2. I didn't realize that people didn't understand that these are Yamaha trunks and not aftermarkets. I'm going to make that clearer.

All of this info (part #s and list prices) is available on Yamaha website. Go look at the new bikes, find the FJR and look at the accessories they offer.

I'm in for an '05, mit mount.

FYI - I'm in KC. Just bought a cherry '05, then went to Road America on it. Wish I had the trunk then...

I've been stalling trying to make up my mind what trunk I want. I like the space of the Givi52, the looks of the Chad sp? and the singular key of the stock unit. Most likely I'll not be buying the stock trunk. Your offer is good though - and Thanks for taking the time to offer the community a good deal.

Fenyx,

You are the first to commit. Hopefully 4 more people will be up for it soon too. We'll have to get together and ride some time. Where in KC are you? I'm in Spring Hill south of Olathe.

Dcarver,

I appreciate the input. I was starting to wonder if for some reason my prices seemed hight still. Which ever way you decide to go, I'm sure you'll appreciate the extra space!

I think you're in my lil Bro's neck of the woods...You'll know him when you see him behind you. He'll be the guy with the flashing lights.

 Uhh.....maybe I don't want to meet him then. Just kidding, if I meet him that way, I'm probably over due anyhow. Whats his name and were does he work out of?

I'd like an 06 cobalt blue trunk, but I have sticker shock from that price. Can't really justify to myself.

I definetely understand the sticker shock. From the looks of this so far, I doubt that there will be another offer like this in the future (at least not from me). The prices are low, but doesn't seem like many people are going to take advantage. Hopefully enough for me to be able to make it happen. Do you do enough touring to actually need one?

His last name is Wright. He works in Wyondotte (sp?) and Johnson Counties.

What is the total price (including all mounting brackets and hardware) for the '05 trunk?

Metric,

Don't feel bad - after two years of trying to develop software for the motorcycle / vehicle market, I finally gave up. At least you aren't getting people to tell you it should be FREE (and then asking for support) :D !

Thanks for the offer to the FJR community!

Best regards,

Shane

The '05 Trunk by its self would be $396. The mounting kit is $60. And if you want it, the back rest is $90. Then add a little shipping, and if you are in Kansas, tax.

Hey Shane.

No big deal. I think what you were doing would be harder then selling parts. I'm not discouraged at all. I have a small business and just want to make people aware that I am here. I can't compete with guys like Ron Ayers on a day to day basis, but I do my best. This is a good group of guys, and everyone is subject to their opinions and comments. Nobody is giving me a hard time yet.

Ride safe.

Hey Dan...nice offer thanks!

I am debating whether or not I like the looks of the Givi more.....I may be an 06 buyer.

I have heard the stock trunk with the backrest pushes a pillion's position a little too far forward....any feedback on this?

Ron

Ron,

I don't know first hand if that is the case. I can however find out the opinion of fellow FJR rider and his wife. It may be a day or two before I get to talk to them, but I'll ask and see what their opinion was of it. Maybe I can even get a look. I know I'm going to see him this weekend, so at least give me until then. I'm pretty sure he lurks around here on occasion, so maybe he'll comment.

Dan

I believe it was a givi actually that pushed the pillion too far forward. It may have been twn or toecutter that had the problem. They managed to move it back an in or 1.5 ins back w/ some modifications though!
