    2008 Buell 1125r (Rotax-power)

Yeah the dealers are the Achilles Heel of Buell. My 3 local shops were terrible which was one of the reasons I got the FJR (I found a kick ass local Yammi dealer). But there is now a new Buell dealer in town who seems to be getting the Buell picture in focus and their affiliated dealerships...

    2008 Buell 1125r (Rotax-power)

Buell reliability is fine. I've got a 91RS1200 and a 00Blast now, I had a 98 S1WL and a 99 S3T before. I currently have a 2008 1125R and 2008 XB12Scg on order. I've put about 60,000 miles on Buells to date with no major manufacturer issues (several dealer and aftermarket issues) and the...

    Chicken Strips

Dynamic load and road contours? Weren't you just arguing about too many variables? This would be a solid baseline number. Huck, what are you looking to do?

    Chicken Strips

Can't you just have a friend hold the bike level and measure the footpeg feeler height off the ground and that point's (the spot on the ground you measured peg height from) distance from the center of the bike and calculate the soft-touch angle, then do the same for the brake lever and center...

    2008 Buell 1125r (Rotax-power)

    >if you have 0 track time like me then you get some advice or coaching on your bike As long as you are not on a demo bike you get coaching/advice. There are lots of coaches in all levels incl national champs and factory riders for the advanced guys. One guy (name I forget) owned the Road...

    2008 Buell 1125r (Rotax-power)

Good question, as ever the dealers will make or break it for Buell. Incidentally, no coaching during the demo rides which are follow-the-leader, if you want coaching, ride your own and ask for help. The bikes will start production in a few weeks ("late October" was the last I heard) so expect...

    2008 Buell 1125r (Rotax-power)

Buell has an "Inside Pass" track day - for $100-150 (depending on track) you get 7 sessions, two on your bike and up to 5 on theirs. As of a few weeks ago, all Buell demo bikes are the 1125R (the 30 or so pre-production bikes the journalists got to ride in Monterey). You also get a tshirt...

    2008 Buell 1125r (Rotax-power)

They are pretty entertaining, power is similar to the FJR (minus 200lbs of excess weight of course) but delivered smoother and I think sooner (ie more low-end). Brakes are amazing, but you have to get used to them before you kill yourself. This is not a newbie bike. 2 year warranty is nice...

    Track Day

I've tracked my FJR at RoadAmerica and Barber. Ground clearance means you really need to perfect getting off the bike, but its sure fun to pass the crotchrockets in the corners on a touring bike! I've run Metzeler Z6s and Dunlop Qualifiers. The Z6s are (for me) the perfect tire for my FJR...

    OK you twisty hotdogs

Slide off the seat a little, extend your outside arm, drop your inside shoulder, try to touch your chin to the inside mirror and you'll gain a ton of lean angle.

    OK you twisty hotdogs

I think I see the clearance problem on the left side And I think I might have gotten a little too close I did much better after finding out I need to lean my upper body farther foward and over a lot more that I was. The outside arm should be almost straight and try to touch your chin to...

    Rumble Strips = SUHWEET!!

I use a Rumble Strip on my RF1000 to eliminate the "buffeting" when I have a passenger or when the windshield is in certain positions. It also reduced the noise in the helmet which I did not know it could do.

    Renting a Harley...

My favorite Harleys are the Sportsters (my favorite bike is still my first, a 92 Sportster 883 Hugger) but given the choice between those two I'd take the Road King. I like the ElectraGlides, very comfy ride - but the Ultra just has too much "extra" all over it. I prefer 'em stripped down...

    TechSpec Tank and Knee Gripsters

Been using them on the FJR since I bought it. My problem is they last 1 year or 4 tracks days, whichever comes first. I buy the universal and get 2 pair out if it for the FJR. I'll be at Superbike School this weekend at Barber. How'd ya like it?

    OK you twisty hotdogs

I think it's the lash from the shaft drive. Bugs the hell out of me too and makes you keep a little throttle at all times and sure makes you concious of riding smooth.

    Carrying Pillion on the FJR

I don't know about that, we scrape pegs and run with R1s and such. I'm more careful than I am solo, but its just as much fun. Course I do have Wilburs suspension front/rear and have a light and experienced passenger.

    Carrying Pillion on the FJR

My wife only minds when I scrape *her* pegs. course she's also only 115lbs and rides her own (prefers to be a passenger, but riding her own occasionally made a *world* of difference when she's a passenger) That said, running a top box/backrest encourages your passenger to sit upright and away...

Finally Going on a long ride, Need advice

What gear do you have? Jeans and a jacket? Full Aerostitch? Gloves? I like high-tech (ie wicking) running pants and longsleeve shirt under the 'stich. Cool if you open the vents and warm if you don't. Great for 104deg in Sturgis and 45deg in the Rockies. Take a 'lectric vest (ever been...
