NorCal New Years Drive to Eat

It was a wet and rainy night..........

....followed by a sprinkly day, but SOME of us rode anyway!

Okay...Hycle's battery went "Pffffttt", but his battery is always a little flat. And Debs is getting over a cold (So Rog says...), and Gfran :dntknw: , uber-absent were Brad, Christy and Old Michael, Sacramento Mike brought Sacramento Janet in the car.

Glas1/2ful and madmie2 were the intrepid and dedicated sport-touring representatives in attendance: We actually RODE our bikes!

Leaving the house, barely sprinkling...piece-of-cake!

Gratuitous thermometer shot. Not cold, just mildly invigorating.

I love getting gassed on New Years morning!

Heading North on Hwy 99, going to Starbucks to meet the rest of the NorCal FJRs.

I got theis photo of Rog taking a photo of FJRonamissionx2 (Brian & Susan) in front of their NOT-AN-FJR.

Along Hwy 16, this is Sloughhouse, a busy fruit and vegetable stand in the fall.

Heading downhill into Jackson, CA.

There must have been a lot of rain! I know Murph and I rode through a rainstorm that dropped 6 inches of rain in the upper 30s one October...that's not neccessarily as fun as it sounds. :clapping:

When we got to the casino I'd hoped to park with the rest of the NorCal FJRs. Alas....the parking attendant directed me to where another group of bikes was parked.

I know that this forum likes to poke fun at "Those Guys" who ride a certain style/brand of motorcycle, but.....well....they were riding!

If truth be told, I talked with a couple of them and they had 50 bikes signed up...they had 12. I guess that's about the same ratio as we had. :blink:

Once we got into the casino and were directed to our table(s), Sacramento Mike led everyone in a rousingm New Years Day game of Musical Chairs!

After heading down stairs for hugs, handshakes, Happy New Year wishes and tearful goodbyes, it was time for me to head home.

Riding through Sloughhouse I got this barn picture for Andrew. This complex was once a processing and shipping center for a Hops Farm.

Near my home is the town of Sheldon. As long as I've lived in this area I've always promised myself that "one day" I was going to stop and look at the concrete sculptures and antique farm implements in front of a realty office building. In true "Candy Butt" fashion, that I'm trying to adapt from Carver and a certain Elder Michael, today was "that day".

What good is a Bison sculpture without the attendent "Injun"?

There's some interesting equipment here, in various stages of decay.

The piece in the center appears to be a portable elevator of some kind. Theirs an auger that unfolds at the rear and the main forward leaning part with the lift chain and paddles tilts up to vertical.

Plows in a row. That's a belt-driven thresher of some kind on the left. A seeder/planter in the foreground.

Wheaties remembers when these were shiny and new at the dealer where he worked while attending college.

Old Michael was an apprentice operator (he stoked the boiler) on one of these before he changed careers.

8 miles later, I'm back in my home town.

Not a long day....according to the mileage...

But an absolutely great way to Ride In The New Year, share good food with friends and enjoy wonderful riding and life stories with those same warm and kind friends.

I wish and hope that all of you are blessed with the type of owners we have in NorCal.
