Ian just one question. If I have the GXM 30 mount,The little lite Mount and the audiovox mount where in the He/// am I going to mount the radar detector mount??
+1

Seems to me the wanker needs to design us some new handlebars that can fit all the shit he is trying to make us buy!

:p

How about a right side reservoir mount that would place the RD below the GXM antenna mount? Since the RD only needs front and rear access and nothing above?

Fabricate me this, Dr. Skyway; a control to control farkle bar:

(Yeah, I know it's already being produced for the Wing, but it doesn't fit the FJR.)

There's a time when you just have to say NO! :) That's just getting too cluttered.

I'm still trying to get an answer someone, to a question I have about how the RD sits on the mount. When the mount is bolted down does it point the RD forward? or slightly to one side?

I'm looking at the posted pictures and it looks like to get the RD pointed forward you can't get the secure straps perpendicular to the RD. (?)

1) Once attached to the reservoir, the mount aligns parallel to the centerline of the bike. So, the RD points forward if it is aligned with the mount. (assuming the bars aren't at a weird angle)

2) The strap is perpendicular to the mount and the RD can be mounted so as to align with the mount (in which case it points directly forward) thus, if so mounted, the RD is perpendicular to the strap.

How do he know? I installed mine a couple of days ago.

When the bars are pointing straight forward, so is the RD mount.

I wonder if we could get Gary to powder coat this piece also?? :hehe:
Thanks for the pics. It's hard to tell though, is the radar detector actually pointing forward while sitting squarely on the bracket when bolted down? Maybe I'm looking at it wrong. (?)
It points forward unless you are in a turn (lol) I saw your post for pics and went out to the garage and just shot a bunch. I think the bars are turned a little in the pics. It looks great and the auto-com makes it very effective. Being able to hear it helps.

That must be the illusion I'm getting. That and I only have one good eye. :) :p Thanks for taking and posting the pics.

Ian, twodogs... thanks for the replies. I'll probably be ordering here soon and have you send it out to Gary for powder coating.

Thanks again guys,

Just curious if when changing out the screws should one use blue loctite on the threads? Finally have the time to install the mount. PM. <><

No loctite Del, just snug them down evenly.

Ian, I'll take one as well. But I was also curious about powder coating black. Any option to send it to Gerauld as in the past??

I haven't talked to Gary directly about doing this, but I recently mailed one too him on behalf of another forum member. You might drop him a line to be sure and post here with his reply.

Ooooh, ooooh, was it mine??! :)

I asked Gary about the powder coating and he said no problem. Drop him a PM to confirm the cost of $12.

Probably was. Thanks for the update on powder coating. I know Gary is way busy making backracks and such for you guys. B)

Got the longer screws from Ian today. What a guy and I was worried he would go Skyway on me.

It has also come to my attention that certain RD'ers will not fit beneath the strap I designed my kit around (Escort Passport X50). So now I'm also going to include an additional longer strap for those of you who have an SUV size RD.

If you are one of the original buyers of this farkle and are having issues, please PM me with your address and I'll get you all fixed up. ;)
