    Just a small rant

That's funny. I've seen that bathroom.

Using an I-Pass on the FJR

The Toll Authority people said just keep in my shirt or jacket pocket. Newer systems don't require the pass at all since they read the license plate. Our new passes are stickers that de-activate if you peel them off. The old ones were about the size of a PCM card.

    Summer jacket recommendations?

My coolest most comfortable summer jacket is the Olympia Airglide 2 Mesh Tech Jacket. It gets hot as hell here in Dallas in the summer. Mine's neon yellow. What it lacks in protection it more than makes up in visibility. My favorite jacket is the Tour Master Cortech GX-Air 2 Hybrid...

    LED Turn Signal Indicators

Although I did install a LED compensated flasher on my FZ1 because I had installed LED rear flashers, I'm not sure it would be necessary to do so if you are just adding LED indicators in parallel with stock signal lights. The flasher works with resistance and since LEDs have less resistance...

    LED Turn Signal Indicators

I put these on my FZ1 from SuperBrightLED.com They work great and don't look too bad. I got a set for my FJR, but gave up taking the entire cowling off just to get to the wires.

    shifting the AE

Mine shifts smoother if I don't roll off.

Do you “Hang Off” your FJR ??????

That's pretty much the way I understand it too, based solely on the several books I've read on the subject. Weight shifting is good and is a practice that should be cultivated if you want to be a better rider.

GEN II Plastic and Cowling Removal

Very terrific write up and photos, kaitsdad. Thanks a million. I've been farting around trying to remove the upper side fairings for the last couple of hours and was stumped, even with service manual drawings. All I wanted to do was get access to the turn signal wires. Sheesh. This seems like...

    Turn signal cancellation

Life can be so irritating when others don't live up to one's standards of perfection — if you let it. Life has taught me that it isn't necessary for others to be stupid for me to feel smart. I'm having a difficult time remembering to cancel my signals. I started riding 3 years ago after a...

A couple of quick observations from an FNG on a new AE

I kept hitting the horn the first couple of months, but rarely do so now. The one finger idea sounds like a winner. I'm finding that I'm using the foot shift more lately. That could be because I also ride a FZ1 and it helps me transition a bit.

    Turn signal cancellation

I thought of doing that, but the problem is the turn signal switch is mechanical. I don't think there is a way to cancel with a signal impulse. That button has to be pushed to reset the switch. But, the upshift would be the perfect que for automatic signal cancellation. The timers are pretty...

    Reflective Wheel Pinstripes

I like... I just ordered myself some stripes for both my bikes. When you put on the wheel stripes, did you remove the wheels?

    Check out my rack!

    Good work! It looks good.

    Being cool and seen

For a ride these things would be great. But, for daily commuting or just taking a ride to Starbucks for a cuppa, they don't seem all that practical.

    Being cool and seen

I think the hi-viz red is more distinctive than the yellow. I've seen bikers coming from a 1/2 mile away in heavy rush-hour traffic wearing hi-viz orange/red. That experience is what motivated me to go that route.

    My FJR Grew A Hump!

Wow. It took two full months to get my first one. It has been 6 weeks since I ordered the one for the FZ1 and they can't make any prediction on when I'll get it. Maybe sometime in May, but June wouldn't surprise me. They are bigger than they look. I find mine to be perfect for carrying the...

    Being cool and seen

I'm reading and hearing how mesh jackets don't provide the protection of regular jackets, but I'm not sure I see it. I'm not trying to be argumentative, I just want to learn. From what I see of my Tourmaster and the Olympia, the only place not protected is the lower front torso. They both have...

G2 Throttle tube for 06-07 FJR

Ah, the new Gen II throttle tube for my 2006 AE arrived today. Installation pushed fairly difficult. That was the most stubborn grip I've ever removed. I couldn't do it by myself. A friend dropped by and helped me by holding the air hose and steadying it while I pulled on it with a tube stuck in...

    Being cool and seen

Larry. That's a helluva avatar. whew. I'm rapidly reaching the point of needing to build another room just for jackets. My favorite winter jacket (mild Texas winters) is my Tourguide bumble bee jacket. But, it isn't even close to being suitable in summer. I've only had the liner in it twice...

    Being cool and seen

Well, that's fairly insulting. You know, it isn't necessary that others be stupid for you to be smart.
